Ok, I have had sellers regret! I have already talked to Bob (great phone conversation!) and decided to keep the roll bar after all.



Not that Bob (Flash) tried to talk me into keeping it. It is just that talking about my car and the fact he had a potential buyer and various mods etc. I realized home much I love this car. I haven't figured out how I am going to stem the bleeding cash-flow problem I have with two kids in college and various other cash-flow issue I have, but I have decided to find another way.



BTW: Not to make any of you jealous, but my wife was instrumental in talking me OUT of selling the car!!!



Thanks Bob for being understanding, and I hope the guy who is still waiting for a kit is not upset.

Seriously, I've been in your position. I had my first 968 in 1993 and had to sell it because, as I've come to say, "Life interfered." It was the second car that I'd had to sell for that kind of reason and I've always regretted it. But - at the end of the day, it is just a car, so do what you have to, and you can always buy another (as I did - and that's why my license plate is LAST968).

tried getting ahold of him today with no success - i know he was out of town all weekend - when i talked to him last week, he was welding away - based on that, i anticipated them being off at the powder coaters today, but could not verify that, since i could not reach him - i'll be on it again tomorrow - i need this done too - i have an event of my own in 2 weeks - i won't drive it right now as it is, so i'm getting a little resless myself

In an effort to help me make my Watkins Glen DE event this past weekend, Flash got my bar completed and shipped a week ago today. Long story short - shipping logistics and communications resulted in my not getting it until today. However, I really didn't suffer for lack of it this weekend, the main advantage would have been that I could have run in the blue group instead of the yellow. But - no big deal.



I got the DE bar with the fittings for the windscreen. Having been the

first bar to be shipped, we learned something about how it has to be

protected to avoid damage during shipment. It was wrapped with heavy paper and then bubble wrapped, but the corners were torn through during shipment and both top corners are badly scraped. Personally, not a big deal, but I will file an insurance claim with Greyhound. Also, I may wrap the top bar with padding and tape, which would conceal the damage (I want that protection so my grandsons don't bang their heads getting in and out of the rear seats).



Overall, I have to say I'm VERY PLEASED with the design, fit, and look. I

haven't taken any photos, but if you're interested, I could. It really looks like it belongs, and I doubt that I'll be removing it - it looks "natural", almost factory, and doesn't interfere with access to the rear seat. The welds are nicely done, etc. It looks professional.



There was a little challenge getting two of the six bolts in place, with one

being helped by a 280 lb. friend of mine sitting on the main crossbar.

Flash thinks this difficulty might have been caused by some misalignment

resulting from shipping and I think he intends to add wood bracing prior to shipping to make sure things stay aligned. (I think it might be the result of slight dimensional variation among cars, but I don't have any evidence for that.) Whatever - while it was bothersome to me, I got it solved, and have only one more bolt to insert. That'll happen tomorrow with help from a more slender friend (I just need an extra hand).



The top goes up and down easily with no interference. I haven't tried the

"broomstick" test yet - maybe tomorrow if it's warm enough to put the top

down.

before everybody jumps and yells, we are wrapping all of them up and everybody will be getting a call for shipping instructions shortly



i really think it got smacked in shipping - it takes very little to knock the lower bracket out of whack, causing the holes to not line up right - i almost went ahead with the bracing for shipping, but after talking with greyhound, they felt it was unneccessary, and i didn't want to increase shipping costs - they were wrong



we are now working on a wood structure to prevent that and will also be putting cardboard over the corners to prevent the damage that occurred



jim - thanks for being the guinea pig, and for being so gracious as we correct the problem - we will assist in any manner necessary to take car of the greyhound claim, or whatever else we need to do to take care of the glitches

I'm pleased to have been the test case, and I'm not disappointed. I give Flash and his fabricator a great big THUMBS UP!!! After the few little issues are cleared up, my remaining objectives are to enjoy having the bar installed and making sure I never need it.
