Some may recall how amazed I was when I first installed my cab chassis brace last summer. I didn't know how much of an improvement it would make in ride quality... I had expected the car to be "stiffer" and "handle better", but I was surprised and very happy to find that the car would dance over rough roads and railroad tracks with none of the tooth rattling I had become accustomed to.
This spring, after sitting over the winter, it just seemed like things were getting back to their old ways, and I wondered how much it might have to do with the carpet beneath the brace compressing. Regardless of the reason, I loosened the mount bolts (all of them) and then retorqued them to the full 50 foot pounds, taking the opportunity to add some washers and readjust my seatbelts in the process so that they retract normally again and don't have the half twist I had mistakenly put in them.
I'm happy to say that my ride quality is once again greatly improved, and I offer this up to anyone in a similar circumstance and wondering if things are "going back to normal". If anything, a retorque probably won't hurt.
