What are the shipping dimensions for the brace, Flash? That's one of things on my bucket wishlist.

lol - huge - something like 52" x 32" x 20" and weighs about 50lbs altogether. it is on a sort of pallet, and is NOT crated. that would be a whole new thing that i would have to figure out.

I figured it was huge. I think that's outside the range of things I could get my regular reshipper to handle, but there's a chap here that's doing a bulk shipment via boat towards the end of October. Let me have a think and do some number crunching, contacting and I'll see what I can come up with...

Edit: Ouch, I just saw the 6-8 week figure for shipping, which could complicate things. Is that something set in stone or could it be hurried a bit?

that's pretty short timing. we would have to get moving immediately.

Just got in contact with the guy, the shipment is for the end of September and not October like I remembered. I guess that's one item on my wishlist that will have to remain unfulfilled... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/whine.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

yeah - based on previous builds, there is no way i could make that, and i'd hate to mess up, tell you i could, and then miss the shipping.

sorry

monstrous - don't wait until the last day. i am not extending it even 1 day. because of the way these are made, i will have to adhere to a very strict schedule that time of year, and i want to get them done, out, and gone. i'm actually kind of pushing things letting it go that long, and i almost closed it out earlier, but i know it's tough for some people, so i wanted to give as much notice as possible. so, plan ahead for time for the order to process, funds to clear, yada yada

also remember that packaging and shipping was about $160 the last time i did them. i'll have to look into that again to get current rates. they only travel via greyhound.

No worries Flash. Realistically Im probably looking at late Oct, early Nov. I wont need shipping, I can either pick it up down South, or have someone pick it up if that works for you. Im going to be in LA a lot soon. Im about 60 pages into my biz plan, and will be checking out commercial real estate about that time, for a venue. Really cool and exciting stuff on the horizon. looking forward to working in LA for the first time. Seems like the place to be in the entertainment industry. The offer is too good to refuse, but Ill probably still live up here in trees, and commute when necessary. I dont miss the city.

if you order it today, there is a pretty good chance. if you wait a week, no way.

it normally takes about 6 weeks to get one done, and a week for shipping. i'm going to see what i can do to accelerate things, because i want to be done with this. they are a huge pain, and i don't want to be getting screwed by rain and such, nor do i need the distraction at that time of year, as i will be very busy producing a show.

How much of a difference does a chassis brace make? Is it generally only necessary for cars that see a lot of track time?

the cab unit was designed with safety in mind. the hardtop unit was designed with the track guy in mind.

necessary is a relative term, and based entirely on your individual needs and desires.

was that a vague enough answer? lol

If you don't have the brace and you own a cab, or are planning to own a cab you are cheating yourself. This brace, along with the lower brace, transforms the car. Drives like a coupe, and looks great doing it. Don't miss this last opportunity folks. (and no this is not a paid advertisement, just the truth)
