Nice job Flashy Man...I see you have a beautiful wind deflector installed. I have just bought a '95' 968 Cab and have two questions...to start with. 1. Where did you get the wind deflector? 2. Are those rear seats? I have at present a stupid and useless shelf thing with two useful cubby holes below. I would love to get one side converted into an extra seat....possible?

[quote name='flash' date='Apr 19 2005, 08:40 PM']SUCCESS!!!

everything worked perfectly - here are some preliminary shots of the prototype - i will have some more finished shots on monday - there are some changes to be made to the lower bracket, and a couple of other features added, but this should give you the idea

this is what it looks like in the car

this is where it mounts on the front (looking down in passenger side)

this is how the side mounts

this is it out of the car on the ground ready for finish welding and painting and installation of harness bar

the "race version" will have additional parts that add to this that make it legal for solo competition events

What can i say BUT WOW..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive come into this thread seemingly "late".... But that looks great........

A couple of ????

Will i be able to keep my rear seats.??? UK version....

The windstopper you have Flash is it a Porsche genuine one.?????

It looks like it.????

+ will it still be operational "up + down" with the bar in place..???

This is just what us cab owners have been wanting for AGES.......Well done m8....

It also looks like it will stiffen up the cab area as it locates the top seatbelt mounts together , creating a "roof" type structure....

Last ???

How much is it likely to cost to shipp to the UK.????

Us UK owners could be on for a "group buy"......

Cabriolets came with, for the most part, storage boxes. Coupes all came with back seats. Flash also has storage boxes, but has them removed in the picture. I don't know anyone that only converted one side to a seat while leaving the box on the other, but hey, anythings possible.

You have a couple options, snatch a back seat from a coupe (lower part. IIRC, tops don't fit) or just remove the box and sit in the carpet area. If it's for a child safety seat, it will give you more room that way anyhow.

Don't forget the seat belts. IIRC, you will have to drill and add backing plates since you have a '95. I recommend doing a search on the www.968.net (had to do that once for a clear conscience <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> )since there is tons of information on this topic.

I may be a little premature on this BUT what would the "aprox" price be.???

I see you say in line with the Autopower bar.??

But how much are they.????

The base model for Autopower is ~$280. Goes up from there though for paint, powdercoating, harness bar, or full race.

lol - this is starting to crack me up - it's great though - i love the enthusiasm - hang on a couple of days and i will answer all questions i haven't already answered (though i think i said it all in the first post at the top of the thread - read carefully) yes the rear seats will still be useable - yes it's the porsche authorized windstop - no clue about UK shipping - i have to think that import duties will kill you though - rough outside dimensions and weights will b provided in the detailed info post

if you are interested, make sure you have emailed me - i'll then send everybody an email wiht all the details - when it comes time, i won't be taking orders here - this will also happen in batches, so have your money ready - we are still on track to start taking orders on or about the 1st

OK, I sent you some email, but I have to join in on the discussion too. This roll bar looks like just what I have been looking for. Wow!

But I need to see some broomstick pics. I am 6'5". I am told that to qualify for PCA DE's that the broomstick needs to clear my head with a helmet by 2".

I am currently using stock seats. I don't plan to race, but I want to be able to go to all the local club DE's. (Like I did with my coupe.) Anyone recommend a seat that will drop me down a couple of inches?

You can do like I'm doing - non-PCA DE's. For example, see www.tracquest.com

There is a company here called Driver's Edge that I could go to. But I don't think the events are run as well or as safely as our own club events.

ok guys - now this is getting nutty - i know everybody is excited, but seriously - please read the whole thread - i keep getting the same questions that have already been addressed as well as they can be today

there will be full information and better shots early NEXT WEEK!!!

please wait until i post that stuff to ask more questions about specifics - you'll probably find all your questions answered - i understand everybody's eagerness, and i applaud that - i swear, i'll get to everybody's issues and questions and answer them all at one time

i've been paying attention and i know all of the things everybody is concerned about - suffice it to say that i designed this thing to fit ALL needs i could think of - i was not willing to give up any features, and i was also not willing to heavily modify the car - i put a lot of thought into this and spent a week on the mockup alone to make sure that everything was going to work and fit everybody's needs, before i even started the prototype

RELAX! this is gonna be cool

Flash,

Just want to say that you did a great job. Hope that my 1994 cab can accept this bar and the 1994 cars are not missing some mounting points or whatever.

Can't wait till next week to see all the details.

Hey Flash,

...outstanding job, you really should think about the 'middleman' thing... Capitalism is a great thing <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> ....

...now if you could come up with the ever elususive Cup Holder you could retire.... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I think you know how all the Cab owners feel about the ability to truely have a functional bar, so enough prasies, your heads going to be getting so big you'll need extra padding on your Proto Bar... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/laugh.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Anyway you get three stars for this one.....

thanks guys - just thought you would like to see it a little closer to the finished product - after installing it, i am making a couple of very slight design changes to make it a little easier, and away we go

jim - i see no reason why you won't have it in time

i'll post pricing of all levels on probably tuesday - payment can be in the form of visa, mastercard, amex and check

figuring out how to ship now - will let you know estimated cost and such on that too

side note - guess what - the bolts that hold the seatbelts in are SAE and not metric - that's right!!!! SAE!!! 7/16 fine thread - how about that? weird

I'm in. I have cash ready. Can't wait to see the design. I was about to start the process after attending my local DE this weekend. No reason why we shouldn't take these out on the track...that's what they were built for.
