How many sc kits left?

not many. i have one complete kit, and five hardware kits, which can either go as hardware only kits, or full kits.

with this additional power, i don't expect them to last long either, and when they are gone, i'm definitely done.

lol - thanks. i only wish i could use it. i did this one purely for everybody else. it won't work on my engine, due to the larger cylinders and higher compression. 4 weeks and about $4k to get it, but the torque gains are really something. pretty sure i'll never see my money back, but at least those who insist on tracking the kit will be in much better shape.

fortunately it won't take much in the way of other things about the car to make it all work. the fuel filter is a regular change item anyway, and so should be cleaning the injectors.

by the way, it will take 2-3 weeks to get the regulators made. as soon as i have enough orders to justify the run, i'll pull the trigger. i figure to only be doing a max of 2 runs of this (the first run, and then maybe one for stragglers), and then it's gone.

it sure would have been nice to get more horsepower as well as the torque, but the exhaust is the main problem there. i thought about a new system, but the injectors needed to feed it were a problem. the generation 3 injector pattern does not work well with our head, and there really isn't anything like our injectors anymore. custom injectors could be done, but in the end, it seemed like a lot of time and money for 15hp, and no real gain in torque over what i already got.

so, this is all there is, unless somebody else wants to completely re-engineer everything, and at that point, you really should just build the motor and go for higher boost.

something i may not have been made clear enough:

while i was motivated to do the stage 2 stuff primarily by guys who track the car, the results would benefit anybody. yes, the mix is safer up top where the track guys live, but the torque curve is something everybody could use. i left a lot of torque on the table, due to consideration of the CARB certification, and not knowing the condition of everybody's engine.

the only real downside to jumping up to stage 2 is that you are now precluded from being lazy about doing some things that you should be doing anyway, and should have done for stage 1, and was recommended in the big PDF file for that kit, like cleaning your injectors and changing your fuel filter. these are things that we should all be doing every couple of years anyway. it's just more important with this kit, assuming you plan to take it up over 6k rpm, as you will need every drop of fuel you can get.

i'm looking forward to hearing the responses when everybody gets this installed. i know how i felt when i did it on the test car. spinning the tires in 3rd, and nearly getting tossed into the back seat when i hit it at 4k in 4th, was really an experience.

Who do you recommend for injector cleaning and testing?

Yes, there being no Run-Rite response from their website, despite multiple attempts to contact them - is there a DIY option?

tama - that is NOT the same thing as an injector cleaning. there is no DIY option i know of. you have to remove the injectors, and send them out for cleaning and balancing. it only takes a few minutes to remove them.

gbarrier - i use RC Engineering. others use Witch Hunter or Marren. it's about $100 for the set and takes 2 days.

I used Marren - they turned them in a couple of days, like Flash says.

interesting side note i forgot to mention:

the new horsepower up top pushes the kit up and over that of the Turbo S.

took it for a short drive today to test out the Stage 2 stuff. woohoo!!!

i still have a bit to go so as to feed the bigger cylinders and higher compression, but boy howdy this is fun!

The increase in torque in the low 2000 rpm range is amazing. It must pull like a mule coming out of turns.

lol - it does. i just buzzed it around locally here, but i can tell already how much more there is. the car is really scooting now.

i can't wait to see what else i can squeeze out of it. i'm going to take my time though. i built the motor to handle it, but i'm not looking to blow it up either. i know i need more injector, and i have a couple of sets i'm going to play with. i may be able to get on the dyno this week, but i'm not really sure. definitely next week.

right now though, i'm just really enjoying the stage 2 setup.

What kind of fuel pressure should we be looking at. Thinking about adding permanent F/P gauge to my cubby group to complement the boost and stoich. . Don't really need the clock.

if you can find an electric one, you would need a gauge that reads up to 80psi.

by the way, based on the responses, i am likely only doing 1 batch of these. frankly i expected a bigger response, but i guess people are satisfied with what they have. no worries. less work for me, which is great since i am trying to wind things down.

a couple more orders, and i'm pulling the trigger.
