#1

I need help My windows work very infrequently, Fuse is good and relay under hood is good switches are New all three when the windows work they opperate well not slow all tracks are greased and bussings are good and motors work fine but most of the time nothing works I have no power to the switch, I have tried door open closed top up and down (in manual) nothing seems to work then all of a sudden I hit the switch and its fine. Im taking the car to Miami next week and would love to be able to roll the windows up and down. any help I have a wiering diagram and it shows additional relays but where are they any help would be greatly appreciated.

there is a connector upstream forward of the door - porsche loves to make their harnesses with sub-connectors - it could be a bad connection there

the switches also are well known for failing

the relays are in the fuse box

Might even be the "old corroded grounds" problem. I believe there are 9 or 10 of them to check and clean.
Good luck,

Did you try cleaning the contacts in the switch?

any luck with the power windows ? My passenger side has the same problem. Now it blows the fuse. I tested the motor as well as swapped the switches and tested. I do have power to the switch. It seems to be a problem between the switch and the motor. Most likely a bad wire. I need more time on it............

Any update??? Now my drivers window blew a fuse along with the alarm fuse. Smoke came from inside the drivers door. Took it apart and checked for a pinched wire and I put new fuses in and it works again. The only thing is that the alarm flash led does not light on the drivers side. I tried a spare one and nothing. Strangely enough, when I removed the security fuse #12 the alarm still went off when I opened the hood and the doors were locked. HMMMMMM!!!!!! Maybe a security module or another pinched wire or relay? It has to be in the drivers door somewhere because of the smoke!!!!! WHAT NEXT????

Fixxed!!!!! It was a pinched wire that fused five other wires together. I think I dodged a bullet. I pulled apart the melted cluster and then stripped, soddered, and used heat shrink tubes on the connections and buttoned er back up. Everything works great and back to normal once again. TILL THE NEXT TIME!!!!
