Ok, folks, here's a question I need help with.
My '94 cab has what appears to be a power source, 1 red wire & 1 black wire running to a plastic female connector recepticle which dangles down a couple inches from inside the under-hood cross brace a little to the right of where the hood release lever assembly is attached to the brace. With the hood raised I can't find anything that should obviously plug into it. Was there an underhood light that I am missing? What is this thing for?
Suggestions, guesses, or wild speculation would be appreciated. It's not doing anything, but my curiosity is piqued. It's there for a reason but I can't figure out what. Appreciate any help solving this mystery. My 944 didn't have it and I can't find anything in the manuals. Thanks.

My hood light was all cracked and dangling as well - must take a beating when dropping the hood. It's on my ever-growing list of thing to fix...

Guys, mystery solved, thanks to your help. The power plug is definitely for the engine compartment light, which I am missing. Thanks very much to Flash for the part numbers and to astroede for the photo. Now the search begins for a replacement light assembly. I'll post when I find a source so those who need one can save some legwork.
