I need to replace my clutch...

Thanks Cloud...I must admit, I am quite proud of myself

With the flywheel, it's not so much the weight that's the issue, but the fact that you can't see what you're doing. There really is not a lot of space down there. But by hanging the flywheel on the driveshaft both types of flywheel should be quite easy to get into place.

Porschedude, 8 hours...respect!

Piece of cake after doing a 944 in my driveway during a snow fall.

Very rewarding to DIY.

Kudos to you as well!

lol - i've done it so many times on my car now that i have a clutch R&R down to about 3.5 hours - keep in mind that i also have to remove the ENTIRE exhaust system to do mine, because i have a header - all this on my back too - wish i had a lift - it would save an hour or so

You have had yours apart so many times that there are no stubbourn fasteners or grime to clean.

My old pressure plate was very warn and where the release bering goes the metal was very thin. I'm not sure if this casued the clutch to be extra heavy. I drive a Nissan Qashqai as a daily driver and I don't think the clutch on the porsche is much heavier now. I'm happy to get together, where do you live?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I live in Noordwijk (work in Delft), so not too far from Utrecht. Actually I will leave for San Fransisco tomorrow for a few days but when I am back lets see if we can arrange something.

Cool! Any chance of a detailed DIY coming of your endeavor? This is one that I think very few have attempted, so maybe someone pulling back the shroud of mystery that surrounds it will reduce some of the fear factor, and maybe scratch it off the never-in-millions-years-would-I-try-to-do-this-myself list for some of us.

By the way, why are you timing your cams? This isn't a standard part of the belt replacement procedure, so my curiosity is piqued...
