Off to a great start, and welcome!

How about posting a pic or 2 of the car?

Get yourself some subwoofer ports to add into the holes and it should do even better.

and make sure they are curved, and not square edged - the right ones work well - the wrong ones not so much - running without creates a lot of turbulence

the bottom line is how much gain you see depends more on smoothness of flow than was thought - we never tested anything other than with the curved ports, so didn't know until recent tests showed up

it turns out they make more of a difference in smoothing the airflow than previously thought - i am working on determining what else can be done to further that right now - next is velocity stacks and a mod to the big mouth

Can you send me the link the stacks you have selected?

if you look at the 2" diameter port tubes on crutchfield and parts express you can see examples of right and wrong styles - crutchfield is right - parts express is wrong

right:

wrong:

So, if I stick fans in them port tubes I can have a cheap supercharger?

I think the cooling fans from my old PC might fit.

Ohhh!!! I even have the larger 120mm fans vs the standard 80mm! If only it was that easy!

That's an idea. Each port and each side of the port?

Seriously, though, I thought the subwoofer ports were for looks only and had decided to save on some weight. So now I'm waiting to hear about the length.

You can see the length of the ports in this doc..

Thanks Banditsc. It looks like 75 mm or perhaps 1 cm.

Why do I feel gullible all the sudden? Well, the original snorkel did have that plastic part in it. I'd expect the air filter itself would damp out turbulence. Now, if you tell me it keeps the walls of the box from vibrating... I'll see if the tech guys start laughing at my car.

not 75mm - .75"

the turbulence is real - air entering the airbox is upset by the flat surface - the curved surface of the correct port, or better yet a velocity stack, facilitates better intake - the reduced gain from the turbulence is measurable

y i was wondering about the length for the subwoofer ports. but just cut them to .75" and i should be good? i was wondering if anybody had done any messing around with a ram like air intake system? also are there any other fun little mods out there to do?

yes, because they are not fluted, short is better - the idea is not to have them protruding very far into the box

velocity stacks just take this one step farther

yes, i have created a ram system - it works well - i had to delete the front bumper though to really make it work well - the key to a ram system working well is that the entry needs to be bigger than the exit

also, the airbox mod works better if you have the engine bay trim
