arrrrgh - sorry - been swamped and unable to take the new shots - i will definitely be able to take them this weekend - i am in there finishing the interior stuff this weekend, and then sticking it up in the air all week for a series of very cool mods

until then, you can see some shots of the alpha version of the base model, and the fitted full version in my car over in the other thread

i promise i'll get to these - maybe even today

Can we get the run started if I commit to getting 2 to complete the 10 we need?
Partial Post: Please Login or Register to read the full post.
#30

no - given the required releases and such, that is not possible

we are still 3-4 weeks before the welder could really even begin - the shop is backed up with a series of other projects - we should see a 10th by then

if we move forward now, it means bending one that we have to bury in the cost of the others, thereby raising the price to everybody

we have not worked out all the cost changes yet though, and they are numerous - shipping issues have brought about some complications that have to be worked out too

i can get a bit more aggressive about working this stuff out this week - the last unit, which was undergoing an upgrade, is due back from the powder coater any time - i will then be packaging it myself and shipping it myself - at that time, we will know all the real costs, and can publish new pricing, and have a much more accurate estimate on scheduling

Flash,

I had wanted in on the second batch toward the end of the last year. If I am not on yet on the list for this second batch, please add me. That should make it very close to Ten. Rather than deal with shipping, I would just as soon drive up to LA if that means getting some help with installation.

no worries - my email is down at the moment, but i will add you to my list

that makes it 10

and yes, i would be happy to help install it - that part comes free with the price of admission

i'll be on it this morrning and get the pricing and schedules to everyone the minute i have definitive packaging costs from shipping this last unit - i had to come up with something that greyhound would not remove, and still did not exceed their max weight

Flash,

Tried sending you and e-mail but it bounced back. Just tried again.

Do you think the roll bar would fit a 944 cab? Tell me again where the mounting point are?

Thanks,

Did not realize that the 968 had the rear seat belt mount since it has the shelf in place of the seats. If that is the case, put me down for one. (assuming the price is right) <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> I have also reread the previous thread and it looks like the DE version will not interfere with use of the rear seats. Is that correct? I will send you another e-mail to put me on the list.

correct - anchorman has it in his, and successfully uses the rear seats (and so far, with no banging of the heads)

i would check seat belt laws though - i know of no way for shoulder harnesses to be added in the rear, which was why US cars never came with rear seats

The 944 cab came from the factory with rear seats and there are no rear shoulder harnesses. My guess is that the law did not require the rear harnesses back then (1990) and they are probably grandfathered in as legal. Very seldom have anybody riding back there but still wanted to keep them available.

i'd have to check when they became mandatory - i know that way back in '68, we had ot add belts to the barracuda to get it registered, so it appears that there is at least a precident here for upgrade requirement

in the meantime, here's a site with the state by state breakdown as it stands today:

interesting - a bit more research seems to show that it is a state by state thing, and there is apparantly no federal law - however, all the states (except maybe new hampshire) have adopted the laws for adults, and all 50 states, and DC, have adopted child safety laws

lol - check your local listings for specifics
