hello everyone.
i read the chips comparison article , and i want to get racer X chip, but i dont know where to get it, since speed6.com website is unavailable .
Or is the second place chip the best available chip left on the market?
also, the article is quite old, so maybe i am missing some new offers and options.
We have 100 octane fuel available here and i am using it all the time , in emergency i am using 98 octane, and i ordered KN air filter and i will make airbox mod for sure , maybe later with some exhaust mufflerectomy .
not a lot possibilities to get anything for my car in my country , since it is one of a kind here ....
one mile from my home there is a dyno with hydraulic retarder which can measure power on wheels and also measure power losses, so it can give also engine crank power as a result. , so when i manage to have all mods, i will post results

There is the RSBarn that has been popular, assuming he is still operating? FR Wilk also has a chip now, never heard of anyone running one yet, but he is well known for his tuning.

maybe in the end i will do the software modification myself ..
there is some documentation out there about motronic in general , and also some definitons of maps , and i have equipment to burn the software to chip myself, so maybe that will be the way (with some externam AFR meter to chceck if it is not very lean)

Go with the RS Barn chip and the air box modification...easiest HP available.

As for the tuning, if i do it, independed wideband lambda with gauge will be added for sure, also with some knock detecting device
A load on the dyno is not a problem, because it is not only intertia dyno, It has hydraulic retarder which can stop almost any car at any revs (MAHA LPS 3000)
Live mapping is a bit of a problem in my conditions , but there are some rules for adding smoothness and power in part throttle driving (and there is less risk of engine destruction for sure when not done correctly)
i think there is some headroom because of high octane fuel, airbox and future exhaust mod
in addition , i do diesel engine modifying and ECU tuning as one of my job/hobbies so messing up with maps and hexdump is familiar for me.
if you dont mind, here is the link to video of one dyno testing on mentioned dyno, and dyno result can be seen on the end of the video, so you can see how long does it take to measure 300 ps /500+nm car , the retarder was set to 20 percent..

i am OK with losses on bottom if there is corresponding gain on top ...
anyway: postage from USA to Slovakia will be much expensive than the cost of the chip itself.. is there a way to sell me only the file?

re exhaust: maybe / for sure it has someting to do with the resonance intake and thus torque ..
is there any valve overlap?
re chips:
i think there is no difference sending file or sending memory, because when i have memory, i have also the file, because i can read it , but stealing(read and sell) intelectual property is not my cup of tea - and sadly, it is very common these times <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> , that idea was proposed just as a method to deliver the tune to me easier/cheaper
i would probably download the file from memory if i receive any chip, because i just want to know what do i have in ECU ..
re targa:
i have a badge on rear which says 968 on the left, and TARGA on the right , but car is coupe with detachable sunroof which can be tilt by motor from the dash - i think this is regular coupe just like any else and the targa badge is only marketing stuff or one of the previous owners got 911 Targa badge on it, i really dont know

re exhaust: i will leave the exhaust as it is then ..... for now ..
re chip: that is called checksum and it is not a problem, even without "proper" software , the locations of the checksums are available on the web..

anyway now i am browsing the e-shops and i found some really good looking AFR meters with all stuff needed to install it, including bosch wideband lambda sensor...
next thing will be standalone knock detection device but i have some friends which can maybe help me with this...
re targa: if i put 968 targa to image search on google, it throws some images so maybe there was some edition like "968 sport" in UK ,,,
only targa which i like is the 991 one, the 964 is ugly imho..

i will see,,,
today i started analyzing the file...
ignition advance seems to have peak at 24° at 3000 on <acronym title='wide open throttle'>WOT</acronym> , then it drops and goes slowly up again with RPM...
i will see if i can get that AFR gauge and knock detection device next week and if yes , i will post first results graphically compared with stock software from dyno mentioned before

i will do diagnostics to check for any error(s)
if the LIMP mode is activated, there should be an error recorded and if, that will be a pointer for me to solve that situation
maybe in the end, i will end with some other chip from well-known manufacturer, but now i am becoming really hungry for my own results
and also, it will give me some experience
