Update on repainting brake calibers.
#1

3 years ago I was told when planning to repaint my brake calibers, to remove them from the the brakes. I did not plan to do that and I was also told that that kind of paint work would only last a few months. It is all documented on this site. I started with a thorough prep work. Sanding down the calibers and cleaning them. Each took one full day of work. Then I masked them off carefully from the the discs. Spray painted them with 3 thin layers of paint (drying time in between) Made sure the paint could handle 500F temp . Then I placed the decal on the cylinders and gave them 3 thin coats of clear paint ( also high heat resistant)..

The only thing to keep in mind here is the time involved in the process. Yes good prep work is indeed called for. Each wheel took a full day to prep.

Now 3 years later they still look like this

Nice !!

Looks good .

I had mine done few years ago ,  powdercoat in black , and put white heat resistant porsche stickers on there , they still look as new .

Was not sure about the stickers at first  , they really do the job well ,

I did mine several years ago as well, using a brush-on product designed for calipers.  It's a track car, so I really didn't go crazy with the prep - I just lightly sanded them and cleaned them thoroughly, without removing them from the car, so maybe 30 minutes, tops, of prep per caliper.  The brakes take a beating on the track, and get blazing hot, but the paint has held up remarkably well.
