M030 brake pads
#1

My 1993 M030 needs new brake pads but all the ads for 968 pads have a note saying Sport Suspension excluded.  I know the M030 ones are different but can not find any.  I read once that the M030 brakes are from a 928 GTS.  True?  Can the standard 968 pads be used?

Thanks for any help.

I know two people with M030   If I recall correctly they said the brakes ( rotors and pads ) are the same as the regular 968, with the only difference being the wheel spindles and the bars , of course .  (  I sourced the M030 bars and had them installed on my car, separately )   But I could be wrong and may have misunderstood what they said .

Heres a handy breakout of the M030 goodies:

https://www.weissach.net/968_M030-Option...0%20option

Not much info on the pads themselves. Side by side, the standard and the M030:

Note the main difference between the caliper as quoted from the breakout diagram

Front 4-piston Brembo caliper (M030) with 36-mm and 44-mm pistons, replaces the smaller stock caliper (also 4-piston Brembo with 36-mm and 40-mm pistons).

My suspension set up is :  MO3O sway bars, Koni coilovers front /250 lbs springs, KLA coilovers rear/ 95lbs springs, adjustable shocks front and rear, ride height lowered 1” . Original rotors, brake pads are either Hawk or EBC , I can’t recall which .

M030 version uses larger front caliper, the same as on Porsche 928 S4.

Part numbers for standard front pads and M030 version are different.

Standard 968: 951.351.939.03 or 964.351.939.03. M030 option: 965.351.939.03 or 993.351.939.03

Sizes of the front pads also appear to be different:

Standard vs M030:

Breite (width) - 97.8mm vs 131.8mm

Hoehe (height) - 65.5mm vs 70.9mm

Staerke (thickness)- 17.5mm vs 17.5mm
