I spoke too soon.. This one is not one in the "expensive" category ( good news ) but still in the "frustrating, annoying, inexplicable, inexcusable and stupid " category ( bad news ) : the valve guides were supposed to be delivered today, so when they weren't...my mechanic called Porsche, who replied: Oh, sorry, it seems the system search turned up that all stock is out and they're on back order at all of our U.S dealerships - we expect to get them from Germany and they should be here by the 19th of this month. That said, for a $ 30 dollar extra charge they could have a set expressed here in 5-7 days ETA.
So fingers crossed, they won't be out of stock in Germany as well and I'll have them next week, but all I can say at this point is WTF ?!!
I also spoke too soon when I posted that I would never put a Chevy engine in a Porsche - the more crap like this
keeps happening, the more I'll see the logic of being able to walk into the local NAPA or Kragen or Autozone, or Pep Boys.. take your pick, and walk out that very same day with ANY part I need for the engine .. not to metion the cost of that part. Bet they don't charge $ 800 for half of a cast metal COVER plate with no moving parts on a Chevy.
Ok, I vented ! I love this 968, I really do but sure starting to question whether all this nonsense is worth it
I need a glass of wine to calm down. So cheers to all you guys, 'cause I know I'm preaching to the choir .
