Replace Timming Belt Help
#1

HI Guys,

I was wondering if anybody could give me info on how to change the timming belt in my 968?? I know there are some critical points to it and want to make sure i get it correct.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Go to the Search menu, which is near the upper right part of the screen, and do a search on belt replacement. There are several very detailed threads on this topic, including a step-by-step DIY. I'm planning to do mine soon as well, so I've been doing some research on it myself. The job appears to be fairly straightforward, since there's no need to set the tension of the timing belt. It seems to be pretty much R & R, though there is a fairly large number of steps. Probably the most difficult part is finding a flywheel lock. They are pretty expensive (a little over $100, I think), so if you could find somebody in town who has one and would be willing to loan it to you, it could save you some money. Good luck.

Yes you definatly need a flywheel lock. I started on mine today along with cam chain. The timing belt and balance belt job is really pretty simple and really does't take that long(about 3 hours) but it makes it easier if you remove the radiator fan housing to get more room. Good luck!
