NEW FIXED HEADLIGHT CONVERSION IDEA?
Is the hood carbon fiber? That's cool in itself!
It is carbon fiber over fiber glass(9kg all up). Still not complete, needs some work done to it to be OK. Rounding the edges, more clear coats, and making it seat wright on the car is fun part.

They're an Aussie brand called Simmons. Old school manufacturer, but strong wheels.

Hey Zoran, we never did catch up. My 3.0L car goes into dyno shop to have LINK fitted in the next week or two. Should have some more bits to go on towards the end of next month. Down to Wakefield Park on May the 30th if you're around that part of the world.

I like the Lambo Orange too!

Zoran, can you walk thru what it takes to make the conversion? in particular, the light setup and the finish that you see thru the lens of the lighiting units, what car are the bezels from? how did you put it together?

Thanks

Jpr

whoever is intrested in this h.l. conversion, it costs less then $500 in second hand parts and it will get 10kg of the car. Trade person should take about 4 days to complete. To me looks OK, however it has lost the original look of 968 car.

Zoran, I would also be interested in the HL setup and parts. Amazing job and love the color on the car. I never get tired of looking at this beauty. Best wishes!

It might be worse - they say "...starting at $1,995". I wonder what affects the price? Maybe the paint choice?

anybody else notice how deeply they had to set the light into the fender to get the top to sit right? i wonder how much of the beam is affected? - from the shot it looks like about 25-30% of the low beam is cut off

This has been posted before. They look OK, and could probably grow on me. I wonder, as Flash points out, what they've done to brace these modified fenders. Also, I wonder what Pete has up his sleeve...

Just a thought. I noticed a previous generation E class Mercedes (the one with the 2 oval headlights on each side...maybe 96-2003?) yesterday and wondered if anyone ever looked at the headlight from that car a possibility? The shape appears to be correct form an "eyeballin" standpoint. I was not driving the 968 or did I have anything with me to do measurements of any kind but it did look close. I would be curious.

Looks too 911-ish... I like that our fenders are lower.

These may work. Wonder if sunset can get them?

Or you could just buy the whole car

In my opinion this looks the best. projector-style small lenses don't look good in car other colour than black / dark.
this is 924gts-style, and rocks.

flash,

I know I'm a newbie, and I should probably shut the eff up, but can't any of these be made to fit our cars?

http://www.partsgeek.com/ntparts/1987/pors...t_assembly.html

better yet
http://www.partsgeek.com/ntparts/1995/pors...t_assembly.html

or
http://www.carshine.com.au/Pictures/Porsch...-5432423%29.jpg

and finally, a pic that breaks my heart because I WANT this for my car: (see the, I hope attached, attachment)

anyway, I feel better now that I've (rashly) spoken out.

Respectful thanks,

Eddy

lol - no worries - however, if you had done some reading in this thread, you would have found that none of the 911 lights put the lens at the right angle - this is critical for beam projection - it's not just a matter of fitting in the hole

the last one, and the red one, "might" fit - don't know, as the shape would be the key on that one

the problem is that our fenders don't stick up as far, and so the light lays back more, making it impossible without major body work

but feel free to buy one and give it a try

I think the orange/black CF combo, the hood design, entire body styling, rear spoiler etc.. looks fantastic in Zoran's car. However. I'm not a fan of fixed headlights in our cars ..if they remain round, that is. In a race car, perhaps but not entirely sure about that either. I know I'm going against the grain here, but I think any ( round ) fixed lights look awful unless the lens is identical to the oem one, wiith the bulbs invisible to the naked eye ..in daytime , and also the fit / seals, etc is, once again, completely indistinguishable from the stock appearance .

That said, ( do remember I said round lights only ) I would definitely consider this "drastic" conversion without a second thought, which I think is a phenomenal concept, and at least in in my eyes would move the 968 into the top three most beautiful cars ever made..the other two being the DB9 and Ferrari Dino ( 246 ) But it has to have that front spoiler also, and rear vent.. etc. the whole look.

<maniacal laughter>Trust me, I've been reading and re-reading this thread for a long time now.</laughter>
That's why that last pic drives me crazy. It is a 2007 911 Targa. The fact that it has discreet beam projectors is what gives me hope. If the things will adjust enough, it might work. (but I fear that it would still need some modification to get it just right.) I guess I'll just have to blow a Porsche dealer so he'll let me make some measurements without buying one. (Our only local Dealer is evil, but he has his weaknesses.)
