NEW FIXED HEADLIGHT CONVERSION IDEA?
Steady on Chris - you've done enuff
i quite like the idea of ditching the frog eye lights, anyway they are s***e compared to new cars lights, plus they weigh loads aswell, got one side out allready, you can never do enuff mate, theres always something else no matter what, my next phase will be flywheel and comp clutch, then maybe stage 3 head and performance cams, maybe a quaife diff, ditch the half cage and go full weld in jobbie, lexan rear instead of glass, engine rebuild with knife edged crank, mahle pistons, steel rods etc, ditch the air con no need for that over here, never hot enough and it weighs a bit aswell, then maybe if i'm a very good boy after all that supercharge the thing, but its not on my list of must haves, got to do a few more track days yet and they aint cheap afterall, should have all the above done by this time next year though, pazzer

Here is the history in pictures of previous fixed headlamp projects. Suffice to say it is possible in the hands of a skilled body craftsman, but a drop-in solution is unlikely. Many have tried, a few have promised, none have delivered.

Dave,

Thanks for all of the photos. You and some other guys on this site have spent some serious time with the 968.

Very cool Porsche-pedia of light conversion. Do you know any details about the silver Plunge Driving car, #43? Don't know if I would like it in person, but the pic definately gets my attention. What do you think about it?
but from the pic's I still kinda like Zoran's car. I must check it out next time I'm down in his town.
I love Zoran's car and always love it when he posts pictures. If I am ever down under I will be asking for a ride even if I have to fly across all of Australia to get there. I love the coupe in white and in race trim even more so.

I bought a 968 because it looks unique.

Why would I want to make it look like a much more common vehicle?

Agreed - I want to preserve the 968 lines, I just want them to be the same night and day.

+1 on well said

but my only interests in fixed headlights are the weight reduction and there being one less thing to break.

Ya, the web design is lacking, they didn't size down the photos so you can see them in full size.

looks like they mounted them in a position very similar to the 993...a lot more upright than the 968 lights... not sure I like the look

...but I'd certainly accept the result (without, though, paying more than $2,000 for it).

Saxman, you know - and have accepted - the challenge. Right these wrongs, etc.

lol - this one never seems to get tired

no 2 ways about it - you can't fight the geometry - the only way to fit a 993 into the car, AND have it work properly, is either to change the fender profile, raising the hump to accommodate, or to dip the pod bottom, so that the beam clears the bodywork - either way, the fenders need to change significantly

now recreating a different light, and then fitting that into the fender like the 993 light sits might be possible, but as said, quite the project

Bump!

If nothing is going to happen, I may have to issue a recall on my headlight.
