is the high beam in the same fixture behind that clear cover?

FLASH,

I just sent an email asking about the model and headlights. I'll post the reply, if it comes.

These headlights look beautiful.

It does look like they are both in the same fixture to my eyes.

If we can move these into our 968's , I'm in!!!

looks like it could be made to work - the angle becomes less of an issue since the cover doesn't look like a lens

Try to find one to look at in person. I believe the 997 assembly is way too big.

Hey guys,

I have a photo of my car with my "fixed headlight mod"...How do I send it over to the forum so everybody can view it?

The image is on my computer.

Here is Jason's picture, although it is kind of rough for some reason. Any way to get a better one?

seems like i remember pictures from before.

is this the same car where he attached some brackets in the headlight cavity and screwed on some kind of plexiglass cover over two lenses beneath?

it was very slick.

sure would be nice if we could come up with something for the lights!

if someone would manufacture a kit for a few hundred dollars, i'll bet they'd sell like hotcakes.

I'll get my son to take some more photos when I get it back from its winter project.

On a more factual note, those are really just decals for lights. I removed the entire assemblies for weight savings

Gets me by on sunny days, though.

looks cute - i also wish it worked

unfortunately, it looks like we are stuck - the only thing close to a solution is the dual fixture thing stuck behind a piece of plastic - not particularly complimentary to the look of the car, given the shape of our cutout, and ends up looking home made or kit-car-ish - it really wants to be a dual element single lens

993 is the wrong angle lens - 997 doesn't fit - 959 is on the moon

amybody looked at non-porsche cars yet?

what did the muira do?

We've been around the block many times on this discussion, but I have to ask the same question I did the last time it rolled around - how did Arktech make it work with the 993 headlights? A more beautiful solution I can't imagine, though it was very pricey. It even *looked* functional, angle-wise, though it's impossible to tell for sure. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, do a search on 968.net. When you find the picture of the car, focus on the fenders; ignore the rest of the bling on the car...

simple - non-stock aftermarket fenders - i believe they make both fiberglass and carbon fiber fenders - they are something like 1500 a pop for just the fender

993 lights in stock fenders stick up a bit at the top

Ah, so you guys are talking about adapting fixed headlights into the stock fenders. I didn't catch that. Yeah, I can see how that would be very challenging. Arktech did such an incredible job of integrating the 993 headlights onto the 968 that it looks like the car was "born" with them, or at least should have been...

Here is the history in pictures of previous fixed headlamp projects. Suffice to say it is possible in the hands of a skilled body craftsman, but a drop-in solution is unlikely. Many have tried, a few have promised, none have delivered.

i love the animated thing - that is great

i gave up on the headlight project - in fact, i just remembered that i now have a driver fender for sale, that i was going to try to use to develop it, that i need to pick up from the body shop - doh!

looked at the photos Dave posted before I went to sleep last night and woke up several times with profuse sweats from the nightmares they caused.. they all look like a chart in some optometrist's office depicting the worst possible eye diseases..

for that matter, they don't look much better than my " toontown 968 " photo below

besides, I for one, really prefer these to fixed headlights. but that's just me

Dan,

I like your "Ren and Stimpy" headlights too...

I second your opinion and say that I really like the popup ups. Very 928 ish when down and very 911ish when up.

Regards,

Jay

I guess I am in the minority, but I love the headlights on the 968. If I had a priority list of things to do on the 968, fixed headlights would be at the very bottom. When in the up position they give me the feel of looking down the fenders of a 911, while driving. I like it, sort of like a frog!!
