NEW FIXED HEADLIGHT CONVERSION IDEA?
#61

well, a lot of what they have done is for safety - too much light presents a serious glare issue for both the driver and the oncoming traffic - the big report spells it out in a very detailed fashion

"useable" light is indeed the key - green and yellow light is hard to separate out though, and hence we get these nasty blue and white light along with it in the attempt to get more "useable" light - the good with the bad - if they could filter out the white and blue, we would be in good shape

i have a spare fender - if you want to figure out how to get in the same place as a light, we could go forward

the ironic part about that though is that by allowing people to run fogs with the headlights, you get more glare, etc. Fogs are not DRL, and should not be treated as such, but there's so many cars out there that just run around with these really bright, improperly aimed fogs on all the time. Those are more of a glare issue than properly aimed hids.

the last time i checked the CVC, it is actually illegal here to run fogs without there actually being fog or other such adverse condition, and in town anytime - it is probably for just that reason

myself I run the fogs as driving lights during the day, then turn 'em off and pop up the lights at night. I get annoyed by people who run the full rack all the time at night. . .

okay O-T , Saxman - welcome to the forums - you're in San Fran?

We've got a little wrenching posse here in SF, you should stop by. I think we're wrenching on Sunday. . . there will be 2 968's there and a 944 turbo, should be fun

then you should trust the Stuttgart engineers' choice to move towards hid projectors, as has been done now that the technology is available.

I like the pop ups but then again I'm not tracking the car.

I don't like the popup lights much and would prefer the look of HID Xenon type lights. Although that last picture does not look right, it should look stock, like the 993/997 lights.

If a reasonably priced kit was available to switch I would be interested.
