I purchased the KISS oil cooler from lindsey racing assuming the 968 cooler was the same as the 951... and of coaarsee is isnt. the fittings on the stock cooler/lines are not the same as the 951, so the KISS oil lines will not bolt up. i spoke with lindsey, he forwarded me to terry (he is the one that actually makes the kit). terry was literally walking out the door to go on vacation and wont be back till next thursday. he said really quickly you have to vut the connectors off, and have a shop crimp on 968 connectors. said he can walk me through it when he gets back. but im just wondering if anyone here is running an extra oil cooler, or even better the KISS unit, and if you are how did you plumb it?



the car is tracked frequently and im tired of cutting sessions short due to high engine and oil temps.

I'm sorry, I can't help you with your question about the fittings for the Lindsey oil cooler, but your experience raises a few questions/comments. First, how high were your oil temps getting? And how was the coolant temperature? I know you've already invested in Lindsey's 3X capacity cooler, which looks like a very nice design, but is it possible you have a cooling problem, such as a faulty fan switch or thermostat, that's the root cause of your high temperatures? The reason I ask is that I've seen comments from 968 racers who say they have no problems with the stock oil cooler, and you don't live in a particularly hot climate. My car had been running hotter than what was previously "normal" for it, particularly at the track, over the past year or so before I started the track car conversion project, and as I was installing my dual oil coolers (more on that below), I discovered the insulation around the wires for the cooling fans had been cut through, apparently from a belt, so maybe the extra oil cooling is a bit of overkill, even for me.



But I didn't know about the damaged wire initially, so I decided that extra oil cooling on my warm-running mostly-track car here in central Texas would be a good idea. So I went with RS Barns' dual oil cooler set-up, which, as expected, is a very nicely engineered system, which includes hoses with fittings that mate to the coolers at one end, and to the connectors on the oil filter stand on the other. It does require the creation of mounting brackets and shrouds, however, so it's not quite plug-and-play, but Pete says he's evaluated several different designs, and this is the one he has found to work best. Again, I know you've already invested in the Lindsey system, but you might want to give Pete a buzz to pick his brain on the pros and cons of the different designs, and why he has settled on the dual cooler set-up, in case modifying the fittings on the Lindsey unit ends up being a more complicated undertaking than you'd like to deal with. Old thread, but I just finished my oil cooler conversion and discovered a neat trick which my local hose shop did for me.

I removed the rubber hose portion of my oil lines and thought that a hose shop would be able to crimp on a new line for me. No, they said it wouldn't work with the -12AN fittings and hose I wanted to use. I was a little miffed, but eventually the guy said that because the OE hardware was heavy duty steel he could braze on -12An fittings and that would solve the problem. It only cost about $10 labor for each line.

FYI - The original hose is 5/8
