ok - so i got it - it's now in the car - as promised, here are the results



REALLY nice machine work - all billet aluminum - blue anodized sleeve - full flow filter - no bypass - very nice - the gauge reads 3/8 of a bar higher due to the way everything works now - it's not more oil pressure in the system, just reading higher - also, filters down to 8 microns!!! that's better than even the k&n, which up to now, was the best we could get



cartridge pops in and out nicely - not a drip on install - no complications - should be a very easy thing now to change the filter without making a huge mess



all indications thus far are that this is extremely cool!!!

Anyone know offhand what the dealer charges for the normal oil filters? I think I remember paying $20 each, does that sound right?

well, if you change your own oil, it makes sense in a hurry, if only because of the less mess, and the less time involved, and the liklihood that you'll do more often as a result



regular spin-ons can be had for about 11 bucks at your local parts shop (i avoid bying stuff at the dealer at every opportunity)



this also filters better than those though, so there is another added bonus

I regularly buy the lots of Mahle filters that are for sale on E-bay. My local independant sells the for nine bucks, and on E-bay I usually get them for about 5 or six dollars apiece. You can usually find them in lots ranging from 2, or the BIG lot of 9 or 12.

still love the cleanliness and extra filtration which is beyond the capabilities of the mahle



may not be for everybody, but i LOVE it - it's not about the mere cost, but rather the time - spending 20 minutes under the car wiping up every last drop of oil that dripped all over the power steering pump is not my favorite thing to do - i keep my engine extremely clean, and will not tolerate any leaks or spilled oil - this is a great way to help control that

it's anodized, so maybe they could do it in black? - i like the blue - easier to check for leaks and to see that the o-ring is lined up right

I just bought a K&N filter for ~ $12.00 at Advanced Auto Parts. The replacement elements for this filter is about the same without the mess... so I'm sold. btw.. does anyone other than CM make replacement elements for this filter?
