I don't know if its cost effective or not, but wouldn't it be easier to just modify the 944 short shift kit? Seems like the only difference is the pivot arm thing.

I guess the "manufacturer", whoever the heck that was, didn't care how it looked--only that it worked. Which points to the obvious--I hope it works. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

So, after finally reading all five pages of this thread, I'm still confused about something...we're talking about a short shift kit that simply reduces the throw, but retains the use of the factory lever, boot, and knob...no modifications necessary? If so, then I'd be in as well. Reducing the throw a little would be nice, but I have no problem with the height of the factory lever, feel of the knob, etc. I actually don't really like the various aftermarket short shifts I've driven - I guess they're more "geared" for track use...ha, I crack myself up!

"Remeber that there was an intial problem with some cars (variances from car to car) of shifting into reverse - an interference problem - it was solved by grinding a small portion of the ball joints housing. 944racing sent out instructions on how/where to grind or as in my case let me send it back to them and they made the adjustment and returned free of charge...
Just something to keep in mind for the new and improved model...

I remember this problem, too. As I recall, the problem wasn't universal. I don't know if the "model" I sent to Flash would have the problem or not.
Flash, you think we're "good to go"?

Hey, Flash. What's the latest on the short shift kit? 1) Is it ready? 2) Is it better than the model I sent you? 3) Are you through with the model? Thanks.
