This looks fairly straight forward but I am mechanically challenged. Can someone walk me through this? I simply want to remove the old and install the new ones that I purchased. The replacements are Genuine Porsche.

Hi Tim

Use a flat screwdriver to gently pry the "interlocked"

flat cover plate off of the bumperette, revealing the screw behind it. Unscrew to remove the bumperette, and swap in the new one, retighten screws, snap the covers back in place. Thats my recollection of how those pieces work.

Or throw them away and get new Euro Corner lamps! And do it soon because the prices are going up. Porsche ran out of one side, and had to retool, so prices doubled.

I also like the look of the euro corner lamps better. They were worth the $45 per side the previous owner "nickel / dimed" me for, which I think was half list price at that time, how much are they now?

But some people like the look of the bumperettes just fine, Tim you must be in that camp?

The bumperettes really do not bother me too much but I do prefer the Euro lamps. I actually still have the bumperettes on one of my cars. The right side is $60 and the left side is $103 because Porsche ran out of lefts and had to put them back into production.

Curious, anyone know what the criteria is for Porsche to produce a part in quantity to stock, or start production of a part that has ben MIA for a while?  I would like to think they keep the molds for door cards for example, but I do understand that was probably outsourced and perhaps the manufacture had the originals.

 

I can see front corner pieces, since people get in fender benders being popular.  But less replaced things, like carpet, dash, etc.  Never to be seen again?  I would think since the 968 interior is mostly a 944. Are there just as many 944 cars made as 911 from the era?  Of course the 911 has more value and worth restoring financially speaking.

 

I thought I read that the 70s 80s dashes are now being reproduced by Porsche classic.

Does anyone happen to have the front bumperette cover tab for the left (Driver's) side, just need the cover tab...mine seems to have disappeared.

I just replaced one of my covers ( passenger side ) and was surprised not only to disciver that Porsche dealers still have that part, but also how cheap it is . I expected to get an NLA reply and then having to search at salvage yards for it , or buy the entire bumperette.

I might just order another set of covers to keep as spares.

I got nervous when I read $103 and $60 above, now that I re-read I see that's for turn signals. Anyway, Flash was good enough to send me his throw aways so I'll wait for them or order new if they don't meet my diligent inspection
