Antenna replacement
#1

The antenna on my 94 coupe is cracked and needs to be replaced. All I've been finding on line are aftermarket ones. Any ideas on who sells an oem version?

Thanks...

Here is a link to a place that sells OEM style Fuba antennaes...I used this on my Coupe. The link is for the kit, but I believe you can get just the antennae mast by itself.

Full Kit: http://www.antennax.com/p-1168-fuba-oem-...a-kit.aspx

Mast Only: http://www.antennax.com/p-1167-oem-roof-...tenna.aspx

I think that a Golf Jetta (Mk V) mast is a replacement. I ended up with a replacement for around $15. It turned out to be one of the easier parts replacement jobs.

Cheers,

When I replaced my radio in my 95 coupe I discovered that the connection where the antennae screwed into was loose and wobbly. I first tried one of the new style HD radios and it would not work. Kept cutting off with the sound. When I went back to a standard stereo (Not HD) it worked fine. Someday I will have to tear apart the headliner and fix the wobbly connection.

For an new antennae try a Harley shop. They have different size (length antennae, seems that a short standard one may fit and do the trick.

My antenna is damaged and my search pulled this old post. Darryl's links above no longer sells them for the 68.

Has anyone replaced one lately. Preferably with something that looks a little more modern.

Rhude:

I purchased one earlier this year from Motorsporthouse on ebay. Can't find the part number but it was listed as fitting 93-05

Volkswagon, Golf, Jetta roof mount antenna mast. It screws on perfectly and looks great for around $12.

Tried the Jetta one a while back. Worked well enough for most of the time. Out in the country here and while receiving HD stations it did not work as well. I have patched up a couple of the stock ones by placing a piece of heat shrink tubing over the cracked part. With the right size shrink it works pretty slick.

Both links work fine.....not sure why you'd need to select make and model - the link takes you to the correct item. Maybe give them a call?

I'm guessing more modern styles would work, but I have no specific info on them.

Carl, don't sweat the Warn Status. I think we all have it as it's a header. It's only bad if there are words after it!

The warn status only shows up on your posts from your view - you don't see it on anyone else's, but it's there.

correct. it's just a tool for the moderators. no need to worry about it until the bar starts filling up (i'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere)

The 968 antenna mast has a 928 part number. I know because I used to own a 928. I recently purchased Porsche antenna masts for my 968 from Automobile Atlanta. The part number is 92864590200.

Where is the mounting point for the antenna on the cab? I have a broken off antenna mounted right in front of the third brake light on the trunk. It also looks like there may have been an antenna in the windshield. I rarely listen to the radio because I get crappy reception (seems like I don't have any working antenna). Not sure if I should repair the hole in the trunk or remount something there.

My '93 Cab has the antenna in the window. Nothing on the trunk.

yup - OEM is in the windshield. the tiny flat ribbon connector goes down through the body at the front right (passenger) corner via a push on connector. it then goes into an antenna amplifier, which is power fed, and then to the radio

I'll have to assume that the factory antenna doesn't work and that's why one of the POs did a trunk mount. Since the trunk lid is already violated, I guess I'll stick another one there, although that's way down the list of projects.
