This winter i am planning on some major service , engine , brakes and some stone chip removal , side skirts and a nose job that sort of things .
The car runs great there are no issues , and want to keep it that way .
Since i also want clean up the front suspension , i am going to pull the engine , it is time for new belts and waterpump , so i am going al the way , new bearings , piston rings , new valve guides and a new headgasket before i gives in by it self , so it wil be rebuild the proper way , so i can enjoy the car for years to come .
Since it has the stage 3 sc , is there some more to get out of the engine in a safe way, after the rebuild , say installing a thicker headgasket and lowering the compression slightly , and getting it retuned afterwards
I am not looking for replacing the pistons unless they a worn , just the little things so to speak , things might change if i find out that the bores and pistons are not within specs .
Any advise is welcome ?

Flash if i remeber correct you said , that you stayed on the safe side because the age and not everyone would tear appart his engine en rebuild it before installing the SC kit , so i assumed there maybe where a few nm's left on the table .
On the other hand , a fresh head and enigne will also bring some gain .

Made some Phone calls , and the winter project is on its way .
Last year i drove a 968 with a kw v3 coil over suspension , and was very pleased with the handeling of that car , it is sporty but not harsh or bumby , so that is what i orderd , together with the m030 brakes , i was still running the standard setup , springs and brakes , with koni yellows and he m030 torsionbars front and back .
And they where fine , but this kw v3 setup is exactly what i was looking for , i want it to go around the corners a bit better but still a smooth ride on the autobahn , that is exactly what this does .
Will start in a month or so with the upgrades and rebuild of the engine .

Quote:i have driven on the KWs and found them to be typical of all gas shocks i have driven on. bouncy, jumpy, and too stiff initially. i far prefer hydraulic shocks, and went to great lengths to install them on the blue car. koni double adjustable hydraulics up front and carerra double adjustable hydraulics in the rear. on those i did a stacked spring setup, which gave me progressive rates, rather than the traditional single rate, which is always a compromise between ride comfort and cornering power.
M030 swaybars proved to be too small, and resulted in more lean and roll than i wanted, so i had new bars made. they were as much stiffer than the M0303 than the M030 was over stock. the result was a flat cornering car, with just enough weight transfer to really get grip.
but now we are way off topic and onto suspension stuff
It is like food , your taste does not need to be mine , supension setup is personal thing , there is a big chance your setup is not something i would like or do good with .
I have done plenty of racing on the motorcycle , rally and enduro , used to change bikes a lot just to see , what workes for one would not for the other , different style of riding etc etc .

It has been a while , finally had time to finish the project .
Rebuild the engine , new bearrings and piston rings , cilinders where still within specs .
Cilinderhead , rebuild with new guides and seals .
Rebuild complete front suspension and aded the m030 brakes .
rebuild brakes , new pads and rotors , installed kw V3 suspension
Car lowerd to cs height .
alginment and corner balance done, the car is a blast to drive now, seems i nailed it this time , sc runs perfect and the kw setup really works for me .
All front end bushes are replaced with rubber ones same as Original , the car is intended as a road going car not track , i have no intrest in that any more , was looking for a good spirited road going car , and that is what it does , very happy with the result .
1 thing still to do is to drop the rear suspension and rebuild it , it is l oke for now but could use some paint and new mounts etc , maybe this or next winter if i feel like it .
Time to enjoy it first .
for a

The bushes are from partswork.de they make exelent parts .
Almost forgot the engine mount are also new .
Also resprayed the front bumper , had some paint damage after a rabbit hit
