Rotrex Supercharger oil Old and new do they mix ?
#1

I was wondering , need to service the sc .

The oil sx100 is now replaced by sx150 , is it oke to mix ? , i still have half a ltr from the sx100 , it would be a waste tho dispose of it $$$ .

I have send rotrex a mail , but no answer yet .

Thanks Olaf

I asked Bob ( flash ) - unfortunately he has not kept in touch with  Rotrex or their distributor for so many years, he does not have an answer to that question.

This is my speculation however ( and Bob tends to cautiously agree )  ;  given that the majority of people tend to top up that oil from time to time, unless it looks burned out and then you drain it all, along with the filter service ,  Rotrex must have considered that when changing the grade of the new oil, so mixing the two would not be a problem.   But as I said, that’s just speculation on my part, best to wait for Rotrex to respond ..

I had the same thoughts , there will always be some mixing  , when replacing the oil as instructed by rotrex .

Hopefullly rotrex will answer my mail .

The response from Rotrex

Hi Olaf

While there is no issue in mixing SX100 and SX150, we can see in our system that the last bottle of SX100 was sold back in 2012.

Due to the age of the SX100 traction fluid, we can’t ensure the condition of the oil and won’t recommend using it.

While there isn’t a specific sell-by date for our traction fluid, it could be an expensive mistake to make just to save the cost of a new bottle of SX150.

Best regards,

Rotrex A/S
