I bet if Flash had more time he could design something to sell with his splitter to prevent front crunch

the problem is that almost anything that could protect the front edge will either look like crap the first time you nail it, or it will exacerbate the problem. the best that i am going to be able to do is to design something that will allow the splitter to run over the top of whatever it is. nothing i can do about front crunch, other than suggest that people not bump into anything in front of them.

ok, since I'm not going to lower my car (wife likes it as it is) I'm thinking about putting a D1R splitter on it. But, my driveway is pretty steep and there is a sharp approach angle into the garage.  See pics.  So, people with splitters, what do you think?  I only want to buy 1 and not create an annuity for Flash. :glare:

 

How much lower or further out does the splitter extend?

my solution was to come in and out at an angle.  that put one wheel on first, which bought me clearance

Not sure I can come in at much of an angle due to the layout of the garage and driveway, might be able to do that. Backing in will make it hard to work on the engine, if only these models were build backwards like a 911 :-) Best would be if the splitter design is such that it clears straight on and doesn't hang too low or two far forward to scrape?

lol - i designed it for driving function more than driveway function.  it really helps with downforce and cooling.  that was the tradeoff.

 

i would start at the beginning of the driveway at a 45 degree angle to the garage door, and then turn sharply once i got a wheel a foot or so up onto the driveway.  worked like a charm.  reverse coming out.

My solution was to paint the splitter with Rustoleum Satin Black. Easy to touch up (nearly every week).

Paint the splitter, check the air pressure, take the wind screen (off/on), PUSH the 968 out of the garage....in only a half hour I'm ready to go...

 

Come home, check oil, rinse off/wipe down...back into garage...

Does anyone with a splitter have measurements of how much lower and furtherforward it extends to compare with my clerance? A friend pulled his GT3 into the garage last night and pulled the spoiler lip loose.

I'm still stuck with my splitter clearance issue. Could someone with a D1R splitter take a couple of measurements for me? I think what would help determine clearance would be how far forward of the original batwing it extends and how far below the grill vent (white on my car) it hangs. With those measurements I think i could tell if It's going to scrape the driveway. A photo would help too. Thanks.
