Hey Renalicious -- glad someone else out there vandalizes toilets. Being cheap and having a Porsche is poor combination. Still costs less than $4. Mine are white PVC but I figure they'll be black when I put the engine trim back and close the hood.

At this stage I don't think I'll have the patience for intense grinding worth additional point something HP. I'll probably wax the spark plug wires instead and make them more slippery. Another strategy is to lose some weight, I figure every 10 lb is worth about 1 hp. I have a lot of HP gain to achieve right here +3-4HP possible at low cost

So, anyone thought of buying toy trumpets and grinding them down?

As always, great discussion.

ok, so how long should the speaker ports be? I have the correct ports but fitted them flush with the inner wall of the airbox. At first I fitted them as described in the "test report"in 9magazine, I found out that the K&N filter only had the dark spot in the center....so I took a saw and shortened them, I also removed the little plastic piece that sits in the "snorkel"entrance. It seems to work, the filter is using more of its surface i.e. there a more darker spots on the filter, any thoughts?

more filter surface used is better - the intake restriction is zero with 3/4", but if shortening them spreads out the dispersion, while it won't increase power, the filter will go longer between cleanings, potentially maintaining the gains longer

Interesting. I added the Home Depot Velocity Stacks (HDVS) and it has changed the sound; I can't say I hear the air box any more. The only definite conclusion is that is spent more on the gas enjoying the car today than for the velocity stack. The 968 always impresses me when it first comes out in the spring. Every year I remember "hey, this is a really nice car!". It might just be a placebo effect, but it does seem to be smoother and better throttle response with the HDVS . Chip and air box; damn, third gear and squeeze the pedal to the metail, let the revs go into the red and the car keeps pulling without hesitation and wants more.

LWFW goes in two weeks from now. Help me, I'm getting the mod disease and I've seen what it can do. The car was 100% stock before last year! The suspension has been feeling too soft lately.

Are you getting the RS Barn with the spring-centered clutch disk that Flash developed? Definitely let us know how it turns out.

This is on my wish list, but unfortunately, I learned to heal-and-toe at a Bondurant high perfromance driving class 28 years ago, and have been double-clutching ever since. So, I'm afraid my clutch and flywheel will last forever. Must....force.....myself.....to.....slam....into....lower....gear....and....pop.

Yes, and driving 500 miles (round trip) to get it done. AND, leaving at 6 AM. I gotta be nuts to travel that far. My wife has been strangely silent about all this

I indeed will report.

Wish me luck. This is very high risk. What will happen once I step into the candy store?

P.S. 100K on the original clutch and heal-toe at every opportunity. Maybe I should wait??

unfortunately for the process, the logistics have gotten tougher, as i now need another car on which to test things - i've gone so far with mine that it is nearly impossible to get accurate results when talking about something like this
