brake overhaul
#1

Hi guys,

I want to completely overhaul my brake system, what do I need to get? I have new rotors, mintex pads and wear sensors.

I think I need a caliper repair kit(reseal kit) and possibly bleeder valves and vibration dampers, but I would appreciate an explanation on what I should do/get done. I found the reseal kit at paragon, but I cant find the other stuff...

Thanks,

vinay

If you suspect you need to work on the calipers call Paragon and order a set of seals and dust covers (16 of each in 4 different sizes). Unless they are damaged there is no need to buy new bleed valves or pistons.

There is a great howto at

http://vista.pca.org/sch/tech_articles/cal...per_rebuild.htm

I boiled the pistons in water which removed all of the old brake fluid deposits. They need to be completely dry before going back together.

I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned until I could reassemble the calipers using only pressure from one thumb to press in the pistons.
