Big reds and hand brake question
#1

Hows it going everybody ,
Its been a while since posting but im still here .. occassionally but always in spirit- or on the spirit as the case may be !

As an update
Project 968 is coming on well, currently its stripped in the back yard, just was not happy with the paint some panels were done before and i could see low spots in the paint and she had surface rust top of the windscreen rubber and around the side repeaters,

as it was a car from UK lots of salt on the roads- this has not rusted the chassis but so many seized and then broken bolts holding on oil coolers and windliners skirts, you name it, the tap and die set will be red hot by the time its all over- putting back togeathar is a long way off yet.
lots of underseal missing from careless people jacking it up. leaking fuels lines from corroded out clamps.
front radiator has been welded many times.

good news was i found no nasty surprises, worst of it is i may cut out and replace the battery tray as its quit eaten into
few steel brake pipes snapped when tried to loosen them etc.

both cams seem to be good as to the measurments , i may change the slide rails on the solenoid valve to be sure ( to be sure )

Got a lovely set or 18" BBS lightweight rims the last day from Germany off a 911. 10 INCHS wide at the rear,295/30/18 P zeros fitted was a bit scared when they arrived but they will fit ok by the looks of things.. may have to modify the bearing dust cover on the front hubs seems to be catching a bit

Ok the question.

Iv also got a set of 996 turbo calipers and discs which i presume are what they call big reds,
they came with nice vented discs and all full set all round

Just wondering what is the possibilty of running the nice grooved and crossdrilled discs from the 996 on the back of the 968..
Id say mouting of everything could be achieved with some machined blocks etc.
but how on earth would one go about getting the handbrake working aside of using a hydraulic item- messy and non standard in the cabin so i dont want,
Reason for fitting them on the back to is because A) i already have them looks to fill the 18s c) my existing are well eaten with plate lift

id say theres no way in hell there a one size fits all handbrake drum and shoe on the rear
anyone come across this before, are the porsche handbrake drums built into the disc fairly even on most models.

All ideas appreciated
Rodge

Ok amazingly they are all the same brake shoe !!
Just found this

http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt66_210_-cm...andBrake-Shoes/

well that makes it better, now its just down to offset of the disc hat /center etc, theres got to be a spanner waiting to drop in the works somewhere..
