Brake Pads for M030
#1

I'm looking between the Porterfield R4-S, Hawk HPS, and Axxis/PBR Metal Masters (if they still even exist), does anyone have any part numbers? Realizing the rears are the same as non-M030, some websites say "w/Sport Package," but I am reluctant to assume they mean M030 as that can mean a few different things. So far I have only been able to confirm the Hawk HPS numbers; Front: HB141F.650, Rear: HB170F.650.

Thank you in advance for your help!

i've not tried the hawks yet, but there is no comparison between the metal master and the R4-S. the R4-S is a superior pad by far, does not have the cold stop issues of the metal master, and does not tear up rotors like the metal master.

i would call porterfield. they are a great company and very helpful over the phone.

Thanks Flash, I tried searching on Porterfield's website, but I wasn't 100% confident in what I found, it eludes that the same part number be used front and rear. I'll give them a call later today.

Called Porterfield and got part numbers; Fronts: AP609, Rears: AP608 (was told this is the same as AP345). The Porterfields are comparatively priced to the Hawks, which I currently have installed on my BMW 335i. I'm debating whether or not I should try something new on the 968 or go with what I know has worked well for me on my BMW.

as i said, i know nothing about the hawks. i have the R4-S on the denali, the SL500, and the 968. love them on all of them. less dust than stock no fading, and no cold stop issues. i do have a squeak on the SL550 on the first stop of the morning. after that, they are quiet. not sure what that's about. they are dead quiet on the other cars.

I appreciate your recommendation and insight, I'm gonna try out the Hawks and see how they perform on the 968, I've been really happy with them on my BMW, great initial bite, 1/10th the dust as OEM pads, and have never faded (even from very high speed stops).

DC, did you find the number for Porterfields. I have a car set new in the boxes, AP372 R4-S for the fronts, and AP345 R4-S for the rears, half price if you want to drive over and get them?

Are your fronts for an M030 setup?

The numbers I was given by Sarah at Porterfield were AP609 for the fronts and AP608 for the rears. However, she did say that the AP608s are the same as AP345s, so I'm curious if the AP372s you have are the same as the AP609s?

I believe so, I have the 928 S4 calipers which I think are the same as the MO30. I could take a picture of the pads and PM you if you want?

Then they should fit! Go ahead and send me a pic, but upon looking at them on Porterfield's website, they appear to be same size and shape as the AP609 part number I was given.
