968 Gathering in your State
#1

I have noticed that there seems to be a continuing desire to get together with other 968 owners to admire their cars, check out various mods and to just meet other owners in person.

Many of you are planning to attend the 968 Celebration in Albuquerque next month and win one of those neat 968 Celebration Awards for your car or win a Tech Quiz award - or hear Tom Charlesworth's Tech Presentation on the 968. Other owners may be unable to join this Celebration event due to distance, time, etc. but would still like to get together with other 968 owners.

There is an easy fix for your affliction:

1 - join the PCA 968 Register (simply click on 968 Register icon on forums home page) and fill out an application

2 - once a member, you will receive the list of 240 plus 968 Register members (shows their Name, city, state, car model & color and email address) from Jeff Coe, the 968 Register Advocate. List below is as of June 2008.

3 - contact those members in your home state to see of they would like to get together (perhaps during a local PCA Region event): Alabama - 3, Arizona - 6, Arkansas - 3, California - 23, Canada - 6, Colorado - 5, Connecticut - 8, Delaware - 1, DC - 1, Florida - 14, Georgia - 2, Germany - 2, Illinois - 3, Indiana - 3, Kansas - 2, Kentucky - 2, Lousiana - 1, Maine - 3, Maryland - 8, Massachusetts - 9, Michigan - 4, Minnesota - 3, Mississippi - 1, Missouri - 3, Nebraska - 1, Nevada - 1, New Hampshire - 1, New Jersey - 14, New Mexico - 3, New York - 14, South Carolina - 9, Ohio - 10, Oklahoma - 3, Oregon - 3, Pennsylvania - 28, Rhode Island - 1, South Carolina - 3, Tennessee - 2, Texas - 5, Vermont - 1, Virginia - 15, Washington - 7 and Wisconsin - 2

So, whether the state list shows only 1 or 28 members in your state, you should be able to satisfy your craving for a get together with other 968 owners. Hope to meet more of you at these various events.

I know that there are several 968's in the DFW, TX area. I would love for us all to get together.

Let's do it!

How about any of the following dates:

Sept 6

Sept 13

Sept 20

If I can get a few people to chime in I will pick the location, day and time.

Thanks!!

I love the slippery slope of automotive excess...if only it did not take up so much time and resources (money, cut fingers, gashed knuckle....)

Not that surprising...PA is home to Don Hassenbein of PCA Register fame (and host of numerous 968 gatherings)...also home to RS Barn !

Its funny that California (approx 10% of the US population) has fewer than PA.

doesn't surprise me - apathy - much more hectic life pace too - preoccupation with oneself, rather than the social benefits of such gatherings is common too - i've even seen the difference between northern and southern california

but, that is why i am building a list that shows city and state by member

I can honestly say I've met some wonderful folks as a result of owning this car and participating in the get togethers. I've also made some great contacts as a result of this board. Get together with fellow Porsche owners, car people, and especially 968 owners anytime you can. I'm fairly certain I will not be attending the New Mexico gathering as originally planned...I blew the car (and travel) budget for the next year or so by purchasing the 911SC Targa last month but it was too good of a deal to pass up and the car is super nice. I may try to join the other east coasters at the NJ dealership concours event that was brought up here a while back.

Just as many owners don't bother with a wave or flashing headlights, I'm guessing the majority don't join any registry. (I do the former, but haven't gotten around to the latter yet...)

p92968 - i am compiling the list right now - as soon as i have enough, i will post it, showing screen name and city/state - such a list is only valuable if it has some way of contacting people - i should have it up in the next week - i am doing that in conjunction with a number of other informative additions to the site

there will be no charge or other requirements to have access to the list - it will be open and free to all here - we just want people to get together and enjoy the cars
