2nd Annual Ortega Hwy Fun Run and BBQ - Sat Aug 23
#41

Great pictures!

I did the Ortega HWY once in a Chrysler 300C rental car... hilarious.

Wait! Is that a Ferrari 275 GTB right behind you guys (light blue)? Fabulous.

Yes, and as you will note I was using that car as my coffee cup holder. Kidding, the owner actually placed his own coffee there, but not surprising if you saw his car close up - exterior not too bad but the interior, seats, etc..were

in pretty sad shape, as was the engine with rust in a lot of places, and so forth.. too bad, given a car as superb as that one !

As for the Ortega run - lot of nice spots, but 125miles+.. no way I'm doing that again <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> . 50 miles is my absolute limit from now on.. . 25 miles even better..

Next time I'm just showing up for the BBQ <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

we really need to do that run a LOT earlier in the morning to avoid the traffic - this is the second time we got stuck behind pinheads that would not move over - that is a great road when there are no cars

also, i wanted to couple it with the coffee and cars, and maybe that was a strategic error - it forced us into a later time frame

perhaps next time i will do the run BEFORE coffee and cars, and end up there, rather than start there

Yeah, right.. let's see : I drove over 500 miles there the day before ( while you were probably lounging around the house with a beer, or tinkering with the car.. or whatever.. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> ), and then after that grueling 125 mile hot and humid canyon run, drove another 500 miles back the very day after ( while you were resting and lounging around the house with another beer ) . So...bite me. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Ok, actually, may be you're not the best "audience" of my whining about how many miles I put on the car in one weekend, 'cause lunatic that you are driving across the entire country to attend a two day event takes the cake so

no way you'll empathize with my complaints.. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

So, uh... never mind. Besides, you weren't drinking beer the entire day before the run, someone had to map that course with meticulous mileage indications, so no doubt some considerable time was dedicated to that task, so all kidding aside, that was a great thing of you to do - !!

But anyway, the rest of you guys appreciate what I went trough to get there and back, right ? ... right ? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/unsure.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/unsure.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
