The part numbers are for the heater control rod clips that break and put the heater on full
There is a full troubleshooting guide for the heater on Clarkes garage website,
Your mechanic can use this to fault find, its for a 944 but the system is exactly the same

Quote:Don't forget, the default setting for the hot water control valve behind the distributor is "on", so a disconnected or failed vacuum line will make the valve stay on and the heater core in the cabin will always be hot. Those plastic valves are prone to failure, so that may be a good place to look as well.
This.. I have fixed the failed vacuum line twice now.., latest was vacuum line connection disconnected when I got it back from OPC big service this year.., noted constant heat so knew what to look for..

And that's what this forum is for! Keep an eye on that valve, the glue tends to degrade over time and fail at the worst possible time. I replaced mine with an all-metal unit, which required some minimal changing of hoses. If you change the valve, remember to bleed the air out of the system using the bleeder bolt on the top hose.

+ audi part for 15€ fits also, slightly thicker inlet, but at least it will be stiffer fit to hose.

Can you post a pic of the relay and the location? I will check my car.
Do the valve, it's easier to do now.

For B6 on a 968 you need two threaded collars to insert in the tops of your old struts once you have cut the tops off at exactly the correct length, once cut the collars need to be inserted exactly the correct distance and then welded in place
Once this is completed then you need the correct tool to set the torque of the locking nut that fits on the collar
The collars are available from sportwagen.de at about 100 euros posted
If you message me directly I can put you in touch with a fella that does this on an exchange basis
Send him your shocks and the inserts and he will build them for you and ship them back
If you had gone with Koni almost the same applies, except you would need to cut the top off and then drill a precise hole in the base of the strut for the locating bolt for the insert
This is because all 944, 944S2 and 968 front struts from about 1986 on changed from screw on tops to crimped tops
Surgery is required no matter what option, and I bet if you back to your advert it says generic photo
Just to add the only full replacement is genuine Porsche at about £300 a side, and they will be between 10-15 years old off the shelf
