Stumble, Rumble, Hard-to-Start

MB - somebody probably changed yours to the later setup. pretty easy swap. direct fit. makes sense too, since every hose on this car should have been changed twice by now.

Again, what is the check valve some of you have added with the supercharger?

as far as i know, only josh has added one. i never got around to putting it back in after i removed it in my search for the oil consumption. it would be the same check valve as is already in there stock, or a simple one from autozone. you would install it in line in any of the vacuum lines, to control where you want vacuum but not boost, and visa versa (like the AOS)

Then you must be talking about the "blue" check valve, and it must be located on the small hard line to the AOS, and not the large line that is routed back into the SC elbow?

correct - that one is stock and unchanged.

there is no check valve going to the SC elbow in my car, or any other besides josh's, that i know of.

Tama, do you have the small vacuum line line connected from the intake manifold to the AOS cap? Strange that it is not listed under 968.

kwikt, yes I have that, and it is listed in the PET, on illustration 107-15.

Yes, I put a PCV valve (requires a special one) in the breather line at the elbow, not sure it's really required, was just doing some testing and it can't hurt anything. Also had a check valve in the vacuum line going to the AOS until I broke it, need to get around to replacing that.

I'm happy to report that the car is running better than ever! I took a test drive up the highway and had a few "oops, I'm over 100" moments.

I still need to verify cold performance though. I was refilling and bleeding the coolant when I buttoned everything back up, so it was already warm when I took the test drive.

I left the upper belt cover off so I could monitor things closely while bleeding the coolant system - looking for leaks or belt problems. Is there a way to put that back on without moving the supercharger?

oof - i don't think so, at least, not and get all the screws in there

Tama,

That's great news about your car running so well. Any idea what may have been the fix?

I still want to run it cold to see if it is any better. I suspect I aligned TDC more accurately than the shop who put the belts on last time, and the tighter supercharger belt doesn't hurt.
