When I,m driving I get a lot of "road noise" behind and above me. I know it's related to the rear hatch, but just where is the question.



The rubber on the weatherstrip is in good condition, but it appears flattened out at the top hinge area. Also, where the glass is sealed to the frame along the hinge area, I can see that the adhesive has let go from top corner to top corner because the color has changed from black where is is attached, to a grey where there is no adhesion. I can slide a very thin blade between the glass and the failed adhesive, but the gap is not great.



Question: Do we feel that the noise is coming through the gap between the glass and the adhesive, or is it more likely between the frame and the weatherstrip?

I had the same problem on mine, the noise was terrible.

What I can tell you is that once it was repaired I couldn't believe the difference it had made. The noise you are hearing is almost certainly coming from the gap between the glass and the bond.

This is what I had suspected, but didn't want to take a course of action unless I was reasonably sure that the problem had been identified.



NOW....does anyone have a suggested adhesive material that I can squirt into the gap, that will be fluid enough to get into the small gap, but viscous enough to stay where it is put without running all over the place? I would imagine that auto glass shops must use this; any ideas what it is?
