Fixed rear hatch not popping up al by itself after unlocking
#1

Just an FYI for people who may be having the same issue.  I replaced the rear hatch struts thinking they were not strong enough anymore to pop up the hatch all the way after I unlock it. That didn't fix it.   Still had to go over the back and lift it open to get it started.

Yesterday I replaced the old weatherstripping with new stock. Working as it should now.

Snova you're certainly getting through the todo list! Self isolating in your garage?? France is about to go into lockdown, so my plan is to get through all the decorating jobs we've been putting off for ages.....

I've also heard that the catch mechanisms (where pins from hatch goes into the body) sometimes need adjusting - can cause rattles if too loose, inability to easily release if too tight.   As you read on "that other forum", too-strong hatch struts are a possible cause of the glass delamination issue, in case you didn't have enough to worry about with your car...

Now that I have my motor working - I'm having this problem (hatch doesn't release reliably).     What weatherstripping did you use?    Link to where you got it?    This item will be on my list when I get my 968 back from the shop (new front brakes and alternator cable).

Roboman - yes, my "social distancing" plan does involve some quality garage time to try and take care of these few (for now!) remaining items with my 968.  Wink

Hi Velocity,

Here is what I bought from Pelican parts.

944-512-043-00-M260 - Decklid Seal (Main Seal)(1992 Porsche 968 Base Coupe)(m)

Item# 944-512-043-00-M260 $79.75 USD 1 $79.75 USD

Hi Roboman,

Yes.. a little quality time in the "man cave" listening to 80's music. I  guess its considered the "oldies" radio station now. Oregon is getting close to full lock down also. They closed all schools, bars, and no more dining in at restaurants.    Yet we still can't pump our own gas (aka petrol).

Working on my fried EV harness now going to the CAM position sensor.  Just came inside to try to find the pin out.

We go into lockdown at noon today. Retirees like us have to stay inside (essential workers can go outside). Dog walking okay, but no socializing with other dog walkers, no gatherings at all on the streets. 6pm curfew. Military/police will enforce.

Luckily the wine cellar is well stocked, we have paint and wallpaper for various bits of decorating we haven't got around to yet, and I have replacement gears for my odometer, new dash lights, and other things on the "968 todo" list to keep me busy.

So I'm not concerned about 2 weeks of confinement, it's a chance to catch up on jobs various.....but 2 weeks is a first approximation, this could be extended.

Pretty much the only down side is no band practice, which is a constant highlight of my week. But I can still practice, so it's not a complete disaster.

Good luck with all this hoohah folks ..... the " todo list" beckons Smile Smile Smile

Oh, and we have CHEEEEEEESE !!!
