The sound may be the key here. Odd question, but does it do it more or less frequently when the tank is full? Since 968's have plastic tanks, heat will effect them, as will internal pressure caused by fluid weight and venting.
Just a shot in the dark, but a possibility.

The whine from the passenger seat has a distinctly unpleasant sound, like no other. Kind of a nails on the blackboard kind of irritation.
Sometimes also can be heard around the house, even without mechanical devices nearby.
