Hi all;
Bought my 94 coupe with M030 and LSD with about 66k on it about 2 weeks ago. I have been working my way through repairs on what seems to be the common failures and easy upgrades for the 964:
-Odometer gear (unplugged the airbag to do this and now the warning light is on all the time---@*&!!$#!!--should have read about it in the forum first)
-Sunroof hinge
-Standard tune up--plugs, rotor, etc
-Airbox mod
Belts and water pump are next along with an inspection of the variocam chain and pad
So, one question and one comment:
The question: There is a distinct clunk when I brake--the sound comes from the right rear, generally at the rear seat footwell. It feels like some linkage gone bad. It is not a vibration, or causes the wheel to shake. Thoughts or comments? I will be looking at it this weekend, but getting me pointed in the right direction would be much appreciated.
The comment: I feel like I have gotten a whole lot of car for the money; Im not sure what other automobile with this level of performance I could have purchased at this price. Wow.

Sounds like it could be bushing related. There are a few rubber bushing in the rear suspension as you probably know. Could be time for a rebush.
That being said, I had a similar clunk sound from the rear of my 944 that I could not find and it went away after a while. Go figure.
Enjoy the car!
