#1

Has anyone put in new seal on rear hatch? Is it hard to do? Any tips, what glue did u use?

If you are replacing with a genuine Porsche part, theres adhesive already within the seal. You will have to cut the seal if you dont want to remove all cables connecting to the hatch and the hatch struts.

Dont be tempted to trim the seal if it appears to be too long - it will shrink over time. Just bunch it up a bit more.

Hope that helps

No first-hand knowledge, so hopefully more folks who have gone through this will chime in, but my impression is that this is an extremely difficult job that many glass shops won't touch. Mine is starting to delaminate (though it hasn't leaked yet), so this is something I will be looking at eventually myself.

Are we talking about a new hatch seal or a delaminating hatch?

I didn't know there was a difference...

It's either the hatch glass to hatch frame seal or the rubber stripping that runs around the hatch opening on the body. Yeah I'm not much help here!

Ah, that makes sense. The latter is probably infinitely easier than the former.

It, s the hatch rubber seal that runs totally around the hatch , when the hatch is closed it keeps water out. Mine stopped sealing and leaked like a sieve. Thanks for any help how hard is to remove the struts?

Struts remove very easily, just a snap at the bottom. HOWEVER, watch out as these hold up a lot of weight and removing one will warp the loading on the glass, removing 2 will leave you with an unmanageable dead weight. You will nee a second person or 2 purpose built sticks to support the hatch.

I gave up and installed it with a slit in the seal. Put it in the middle of the back of hatch and the seam is pretty well hidden. It came out good but it was a heck of a job stretching the seal around so it can shrink and not separate at seal I cut. The corners required a lot of bunching together.
