rear bearing nightmare!
#1

so my rear passenger side wheel bearing went out. i decided to replace it on my own. everything was going good up until i had to take the hub out, managed to get it out with a slide hammer. the two pieces of the bearing pretty much fell out of the trailing arm, but there is still the outer race of the bearing in the trailing arm. now i know porsche says to heat the trailing arm to get it out. i have tried that in conjunction with the slide hammer. i have also tried to hammer it out with a drift. can not get that thing to move! there is the special tool porsche has, and there is also this one (http://www.arnnworx.com/RearBearings.htm). does anyone have any tips on getting this bearing out? or does anyone have one of these bearing tools they are willing to rent to me?

You may have already taken care of this problem, but if you have wire feed welder, run a bead around the inside of the race and you should be able to knock it out.
