Just wanted to mention that Rxter picked a nice route for the drive. Mostly country roads, will cross freeways, but not on them. Essentially all of it will be very scenic. Depending on traffic there should be some higher speed curves, and one stretch will have some very, very tight blind curves. We will be thankful for guard rails on some parts. Some stretches are popular with bicycles, so we will have to watch out. Maybe 65-70 miles round trip.

OK y'all - here's the new plan...

7:45 AM - Coffee and Breakfast snacks at Joe's place courtesy of Synchro968 - I'll PM address to all who confirm below.
8:15 AM - Driver's meeting: Organize the teams; review the stages and places to watch for
8:30 AM - Stage 1 - San Elijo to Escondido: combination of a couple S's, some low speed no-cheat 90 degree apexes, and a lovely drive through the woods
8:45 AM - Stage 2 - Escondido to Ramona: Freeway blast and a wonderful stretch of high speed sweepers through a beautiful valley
9:15 AM - Break at a Starbucks with snacks, drinks, and facilities
9:45 AM - Stage 3 - Ramona to Rancho Santa Fe: Technical low speed switchbacks combined with some high speed straights and terrific elevation changes make for the most exciting stage of the run. This is where you can put it in the ditch so we'll cover this section in some detail during the driver's meeting.
10:45 AM - Stage 4: RSF back to garage: Cool down, enjoy the hero feeling
11:00 AM - Joe's place for post-run debrief, awards, and feeding station (burgers, dogs, chicken, beer and sodas)

once again i am going to be right down to the wire coming up on an event with stuff getting done on the car - it's not enough that i have to get on the dyno to do some tuning for the now ported head, and really wring out the supercharger, but now that i have altered my ride height today, i really should cram in an alignment and get new tires installed - just not sure i have the time

the right rear tire is not good - they are all old anyway - i really should change those - i'd hate to get a flat

the porting necessitates tuning - no option here

lifting necessitates alignment - this will be the hard one to work out - the guy is very hard to nail down

My lovely daughter (some of you met her on the Ortega run) really wants to right seat, but I promised the spot to my son, so I have offered up my RX8 for she and her beau to tag along as a support vehicle. We'll see if that works out.

I sent out the address and route map to everyone I think. If I missed you please yell and I'll send the info.

Looks like we are going to have clear skies and a fast track. A few reminders.

- check your oil; we don't want any oil starvation on the turns [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif[/img]
- check your coolant
- air your tires - we all know how sensitive these cars are to spring rates so get your tires specced and you'll have a better ride
- cab drivers will want a hat
- As Roland noted the circuit is about 70 miles so figure that into your fuel consumption for the day. There is a gas station just West of the 5 at La Costa and their prices are usually about 10c lower than everyone else in the area
- bring a camera or iphone. I know that taking pics whilst driving is difficult and can be dangerous. If we each get a picture or 2 we'll have a nice collection from different perspectives to enjoy.

well, i drove the car - temps are odd at the gauge, but only the gauge - all "real" measurements seem normal - i'll pull the cluster tomorrow and see if that connector is loose - i did have it out not long ago, and i'm almost sure the problem started right after - the fuel gauge occasionally acts oddly too, so that is a real possibility

now, if i could nail down my nasty squeak in the right rear suspension, i would sure feel a lot better about driving it - it has gotten really bad lately

off to the dyno in the early am, and then back here to hopefully finish up

Temperatures today will reach 94, but temps will feel over 100, excessive heat warning began at 8 AM, air quality action day at 9 AM.

The record for days over 90 is 53, we are at 27 days this Summer already.

So guys, have a great time, wear a hat and drink some water...
