tough call

cast wheels are generally heavy, but very tough - the 18" 996 thin spoke wheels are pretty light though, and fairly cheap to get

3 piece wheels are lighter, but the rims can bend - they also cost more

HRE makes track wheels that are very light - i have their street wheels on my car, which are also very light (20lbs for a 9" and 22.5lbs for a 10") - these are very pricey

BBS makes a very light wheel too - pablo had them on his race car

i have not found a lot of other wheels that are wide enough and light enough, that suited my aesthetic desires

this one is hard for us, due largely to the offset

"Here's a cassis red cab with chrome Boxster twists and a speed yellow coupe with color coded 993 cup wheels.

Also some shots of just wheels- my favorites being the 17" & 18" Ruf wheels..."

Bio,
I have just bought the RUF wheels that you have pictured. Mine are satin black powder coated and measures 8,5x18 and 10x18. From research I have found out that these wheels came with the RUF BTR2 (993) so they are dated to approximately the same period as out cars. They are made by Speedline. I have no idea how much they weigh but I guess they are not the lightest wheels around. I'll be picking them up this weekend and I'll post pictures if anybody's interested. I will weigh them too, although they'll have new tires on them (I guess that the tire weights are published somewhere on the Toyo website).

Btw, found this site with both OEM and aftermarket wheel weights. I don't know the accuracy but it is at least something.

My Wheels just came from sport car tire, they look SWEEEEET!!!!!
Cant wait to put them on the car, was going to add red stripe but wanted to see them on the car 1st and then I can add it if I dint like the all black look. I'm pretty confident I am going to like them just the way they are though.
Will take another pic when there on the car.

What do you think???

The time atack stripe is actually a euro car scene thing from the early-mid 90's. I remember the first two cars i ever saw with black whels and a red stripe were a VW Corrado SLC & BMW M3 back in 1995. There were quite a few modified german cars running around with them in the tri state ara back then.

Some more photos.

I have a set of 18" Turbo Twist 3 piece rims, 18" Autoart three piece rims and 18" Simmons three piece rims (track day rims). I have heaps of photo's of the car on Simmons, but none on the Autoart rims. These look quite good.

Still have the 17" Cup II rims as OEM.

Yup, the BBS wheels with gold harts are very cool and always look great on a Porsche.

I really want to get a set of Turbo S wheels on my car though.

I finally found a set of Porsche Boxster SII wheels for the 968. I won the wheels on ebay for $600, I've been looking for a set for almost 4 months, lost two other auctions for them. They have 6mm spacers all around, so I may eventually get steel lugs, but for now there seems to be sufficient thread bury. I put Sumitomo HTR Z IIIs on them...only driven it around the block so far, but I am so happy with how they look. What do you think?
