SHOW ME YOUR WHEELS

tim, nice! that was the direction i was headed until i decided i needed stock 16's again for ride quality... i had those on my guards red turbo...

scott, no problem glad you like them! i have to say they look a heck of a lot better on yours than mine. I think red suits it... i was just informed today that i have it all backwards... my off road truck has 18's and big tires and my car has 16's and little tires... oh well works for me!

No love for the Enkei NT03M so far?

10/8.5 x 18. At 21/19.2 lbs, what can I say... I love the things on a weight adjusted basis... and they are tough! If I could just find a 9.5 or 10" that would fit the front, I would be completely married to the brand... well.. kind off

Picked up a set of 2001 Boxster Crab Claws locally over the weekend, basically near perfect condition from another Porsche enthusiast (3 p-cars in his garage). Put them on last night, love them. I can say the car feels much better with 17s than 16s. Here's a quick pic from the cell phone in the parking garage, I apologize for the glare.

Not the nicest wheels and I will probably use them for my winter tires and change back to my other set with cup 2 17". Maybe someone wants to see these anyway..

Maybe it's just me, but Boxster wheels do nothing for a 968. I like carrera 18# wheels and the Knock speedlines, but boxster wheels make the 968 look like a wimp.

Found this site that has weight information. Not great on the ID of the wheel, but does provide a place to start when looking at relative weights. http://www.scribd.com/doc/24224938/Rim-Weight

Seems like for an 18" 20 pounds is light, and they go up from there. I'd like to hear from you all about what is a "heavy" wheel and what is a "light" wheel for 17s and 18s.

My Hollow Spokes weigh just over 20LBS up front and slightly over 23lbs out back. They were the lightest wheel (that i like) i could find. Other options considered were BBS LM wheels, OEM 964 Turbo S (968 Turbo S) wheels, & Ruf Classic's.

The Enkei's on Pablo's car are feathers by comparisson.

it's really all about the tire/wheel combined weight, and not exceeding 55lbs or so - more than that and you not only noticeably lose performance and increase braking distances, but you also risk problems in the front suspension

one reason this is the case is the added adhesion of the new tire compounds, and the stresses it adds

It;s been 9 months since this thread was replied to.... I almost missed it. Part of PTongueP (Project: Pimp my Porsche) involves new rims and tires. Right now I'm wavering between the Carrera BBS, the Sport Classics and Flash's... Flash - you still thinking of selling? *wink* Those rims are juicy, and the reason I was looking at those ones on eBay. I guess I could add them as a fourth on the list.
