Right front brake caliper problem
#1

Hey,

over some years, I have some problems with the OEM right front brake assy. The rotor seems to have a slight wobble that catches the brake pads at every rotation. So, while driving slowly you can here a squeling noise.

I have already replaced the bearings with help of a press, changed the front rotors to Zimmerman cross drilled version, new Textar-pads with anti sqeel plates, did a caliper overhaul (new pistons/plates/seals) but I still have the same problem..

When I take the wheel I can still move it vertically a bit in and out, eventough I tightened the bearings to close-to-nil play, but this is probably caused by play in the suspension..?

Could the problem still lie with the bearings or could there be something bent? I am not aware of any crash history of the previous owner.

Maybe I could swap the wheel hub with the left side for troubleshooting? I want to fix this before driving any more.

I really appreciate any suggestions

the movement is probably the bearing at the place where the strut shaft goes into the strut housing. you can probably feel it with your finger while you move the top of the tire in and out.

the rubbing could be a few things. it it only hits in one spot on the rotor, the rotor is flat, and the bearings are tight, then, something is bent. do you have a runout gauge? has the car been in an accident?

Hey flash, thanks for your reply.

like you said, I will check the bearings again, it could still be a badly installed bearing cup. Regarding to the tool, I presume you mean something to check the aligment of the rotor? The rub I have is exactly half of the rotor.

As far as I know the car hasn't been in an accident.
