Rear speaker size (with picture)
#1

Am I right in thinking that I should be able to get some 6.5" round speakers in the rear? Nicked a picture from the internet to show the shape the larger securing speaker points. I've had a look, just not measured it on my car, need to sort some speaker wire first.

Anyway, if anyone could confirm or correct me that would be great.

I put 6 1/2 inch replacements in the back of my coupe and they were actually a bit small.

I had to build wooden trim rings to get the enclosure to seal. All of the mounting screws would not go into the sheet metal because the speaker was too small.

I would suggest measuring the opening and look at the specific dimensions of the speaker you choose.

6 1/2 inch speakers worked for me, but I suspect that a 6 3/4 speaker might be a better fit.

Good luck,

Jamie

Oh, and I definitely also recommend the speaker enclosure mod <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I put in the Infinity 6 1/2 and fit like a glove. Did the speaker enclosure mod as a matter of course.

As memory serves I also cut out some extraneous material behind the grill that was blocking the speakers full potential.
