need a new head unit and maybe speakers on a 10 speaker
#1

I have a 10 speaker system and a head unit, with a amp built into the system. The head unit can not be seen from the drivers seat unless you move to the center. I figure the LCDS are burned up. New head units are very bright and can be seen from the side. Any suggestions on which head unit is OK not too expensive, and what about Speakers. I just called Crutchfield but they had no information on these cars. I want an AM/FM CD maybe a equalizer built in.

You want the Blaupunkt New York. About the same age as our cars - I love it!

Well, I like nakamichi personally. Not exactly cheap, but not mcintoshlabs expensive tho. I think they are priced well, considering sound quality. Really dont care for blaupunkt. Its german, but quality is low. Ive heard their really expensive stuff is ok. Nakamichi is bang for the buck. I guess to really answer your question, one would need to know what your looking to spend. Alpine is good too. Again, just depends on what your looking to spend.

my thoughts are ease of use, visibility, and most importantly, a good equalizer section, as well as enough power to drive the speakers properly - bluetooth is a must nowadays too, and something i am not sure i could easily go without any more - it is just so much safer

The New York was the Balupunkt top model of yesteryear.

I have not seen a head unit that is up to date with all the "must haves" of today that goes nicely with the style and feel of the 968. I wonder when we'll see hifi 90's retro-look units? Never?
