Quote:We've all had similar experiences I'm sure. We've had center caps mangled, studs sheared, steel wheel weights pounded into alloy wheels!, even had a tire shop install tires incorrectly and tell me I needed a camber "kit" because they couldn't get the alignment right (staggered wheels which should have had the little ones in the front and big ones in the rear - they had the big ones on the left and little ones on the right side).Thats funny. When I bought my Beck 550 it wandered bad. I bought a new set of ball joints and just as I was about to install them, I realized the front 4.5 wheels were both on the drivers side and the rear 5.5 wheels were on the passenger side. All 185/15s, but still.
Fixed that and the wander was gone. The ball joints are still sitting on a shelf.
I hear you about tech paranoia. Funny thing #2:
As I was sitting waiting for them to pull the 968 in for its new front tires, a friend posted this on another forum.
I took it to heart and let them do their jobs. Realizing that working in my car was probably the highlight of their day. No less than four of the guys told me what a beauty it is. The only micromanaging I did was reminding them the torque on the aluminum nuts was 95 ft/lbs.
Checking their work later, the only fault I could find was the brake dust all over the wheels from where the cleaned it off the inside of my wheels to mount the new weights. (Which is my fault, I generally pull the wheels and wash the insides at a car wash before I take it in for service)
