Oil Filter Housing Gasket
#21

There is a possibility I knocked that sensor, what does it do?

Flash, I have a picture of the old gasket, but to tell you the truth, the job is pretty straight forward, but tedious and time consuming. And I was constantly covered in oil and didn't really want to touch the SLR. That's about all of the excuses I can think of right now. Since most of the people on this board have more money than me, and I was teetering on the edge of having a shop do it, I'd really suggest this option to most people...Maybe I'm just a little burned out having done the Nav install, keyless entry install, timing belts pulleys and water pump replace, and oil filter housing gasket in the last month.

lol - no worries - was just hoping for another DIY for the library, especially since this is a pretty common problem

so back to the starting issue, what is the sensor on the back of the distributor? and is it likely that this could cause the issue with not starting when it's hot?
