NorCal/SoCal meet in Paso Robles
#41
I'm still down to go.

Is it worth picking an alternate date though?

[post="18160"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]
I second the picking of an alternate date. I would prefer not driving a cab in the rain..no fun...

well, IF we are going to pick a secondary date, i vote for the 22nd

besides, that will give me the time to finish the next round of mods

i'm liking this idea more and more

we'll watch the forecasts and decide on thursday if we need to reschedule

agree on deciding by Thursday mid-day - the Doppler radar margin of error forecasting that close to the date is almost nil..

a few morning sprinkles here and there should not make a deference, IMO.. but if

there's a 30% or more chance of RAIN for that whole day... ( still not necessarily a deterrent for me ) I do recognize it'll kill a lot of fun of driving trough the canyons to get to Paso, so that's probably reason enough to rethink the date..

I'm coming back from Singapore late night on the 20th, and the 22nd is just too

close for me to operate heavy machinery, or Porsches <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> I can drink and drive, but can't sleep and drive too well <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Fingers crossed for this system to blow north-east and miss anything below San Jose.. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/cool.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Keep in mind that it's not just the sky we need to worry about, but road conditions.

Last year, we had a run in the Bay Area on a day after rain, and a rock on the road carved a hole the lead car's oil pan. Everyone behind was unhappy with the oil on the road -- especially the guy who spun his car into a wall and the guy behind who smacked into him. IIRC, the run in which Steve rolled his cab last year was also after a rain, as well.

Anyways, 22nd should be fine with me. I have a bachelor party scheduled, but the wedding's been cancelled. We haven't gotten around to cancelling the bachelor party, though....

hmmm, for Saturday Santa Barbara's forecast is "mostly sunny" and San Jose's

is "partly cloudy" .. where the f* would Paso Robles' chance of showers come from ?! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Well, we'll see what they say in a couple of days...

Wasn't Poseidon Greek and Neptune was the Roman counterpart? And I believe he only had control of marittime weather....

Zeus definitely had thunder under his belt.
